I think Walker’s ball handling has improved considerably this season.
His multiple involvements in creating a 3rd goal for Treacy last week showed outstanding coolness and awareness while under extreme pressure. Can’t think of another player in our team that could have pulled that off. Maybe Freddy could have had he been playing.

Except I think the pass was born from not wanting to take a shot, I mean Treacy was literally telling him not to pass it to him and take a shot instead - that being said it was definitely the right choice, I'm just not sure there was another choice in The Don's mind

He was outside 50 he absolutely should not have taken the shot. The argument could be made for earlier on in the play, and for a few different guys, but at that moment he made the right decision.

Honestly, Sturt hitting form and the whole team staying fit, it's a long way to go, but geez I'd be getting excited about our chances. Jackson forward and a genuine mid sized forward in the team, I really hope our forward line gets into gear on the back of this.

Sturt would just fit our team so well if he could reach his potential, I don't have a lot of hope any more though.

In an ideal world you sub him at 3/4 time with a handy lead secured.

I think Banfield is the best choice for the team as sub(BB lovers hear me out as I’m a lover of his this season)
Darcy for Banfield.
Banfield forward and Dogga ruck with cyclone providing the chop out.
If Sturt doesn’t make the full game then Banfield is his replacement.
Banfield can replace any of the mids who are rotating(Ras, Johnson, JOM)on the wing if they’re injured or one of those go into the midfield if one of Fyfe, Young, Serong or Brayshaw get injured.
He’s flexible can have impact.

BB regularly does the best for the team and the coaches know he will perform his role.

I'm surprised with the Sturt selection.

The last few weeks, the big shortfall is forward line pressure and the ability to lock the ball in the forward half. Not sure how Sturt addresses this.

We must have been watching a different game.
The main shortfall last week, by some distance, was a lack of even basic competence at kicking goals.
A lack of guys who can put the ball between the sticks.
Don’t care how much forward pressure you have - if the team can’t kick much more than 60 points we won’t win much

Sturt is miles off match fit. Given he seems to need a lot of continuity to start finding the ball regularly I doubt he’ll be even in the discussion at match committee.

I’ve been a big believer but I think he’s done at AFL level. Nice skills, great set shot but just can’t find the ball often enough.

I'm sure someone's already quoted to point out the obvious, but yeahhh

Yep, you could see the close loss coming from the beginning of that last quarter as we squandered opportunity after opportunity. Blokes not even registering a ****ing score from relatively easy shots - it was diabolical.

Did you actually read the full post or just go into defending Bailey mode. Who is your suggestion for sub given both Darcy and Sturt are underdone and a risk.
Banfield has played the role successfully multiple times.
