So, the Greatest Midfield The Universe Has Ever Seen lowered its colours once again. It was fairly even, but still. Overhyped front running show ponies apart from JHF.

Yes but one team had their star midfielder out. It will be a different story next time, when Cerra is back playing for Carlton

Some of the Port supporters are truly deluded, they actually believe they have the best list in the league and that it's all Ken's fault that they're not winning premierships.

They have some good players but there's a lot of holes in that team and they have absolutely no depth.

Good vision and analysis from Kingy on Fox

Shows Port midfielders letting Cripps etc get a metre or two away from them, just enough to make a big difference in moving the ball forward

He and Joey saying they’re seeing it from the same players all the time (esp Wines), “we’ve seen this before”, and that’s why they can’t compete with top teams

Oh and Dixon had one disposal for the match, a handball. And Marshall had 5 kicks and one handball.

They don’t watch other teams

For all the fapping over Port's drafting, they haven't really been able to find anyone decent after pick 20 in the last 5-6 drafts

Wasn’t Rozee in the stands and you’ve conceded on JHF, why not just have a crack at butters?

That quote reminds me of this*

*Fully aware the original quote was regarding JHF.

Media got a little to excited about Port’s trade period back in October, now it doesn’t look that impressive.

Port went chips in to build that midfield. When they have Rozee, Butters and JHF all fit and firing and complimented by their foot soldiers like Wines, Houston and Drew, they can win enough ball to overcome their offensive deficiencies and protect their defence. if one of their big 3 is out or down on form, its a big drop in quality around the ball for them to have to replace. They are still 8-4 and have done what we can't and thats bank wins in a number of close games.

I love seeing them get beaten but they are far more likely to be playing finals than us at this stage regardless that we beat them and have local bragging rights.

Butters is good, but he's very easily curtailed. He just can't run with the bigger bodies like we saw with Cincotta tonight and Nash a fortnight ago, which is another baffling Mitchell coaching decision from that match. Nash dominated him yet Mitchell moved him off Butters who ended up putting in a match winning quarter.

Looking at their recruits

Ratugolerror is a spud

BZT is mediocre, but as he's normally playing on one of the lesser forwards looks better than he actually is.

Soldo is handy, but not a superstar.

Sweet seems okay for a backup, I kind of wish we had of targeted him as I'd rather him as a back up than Strachan.

Its interesting as we are / have been almost the direct opposite to port in terms of list. We have a great young defence and a powerful attack (when our coach does not nullify it with a sh1t game plan) but we have lacked the real top end quality in the middle apart from Dawson. Now we have a genuine A grade in the making mid in Soligo and Rankine is looking like tearing the comp apart in that position too when he is not tweaking his hammy. We have far less gaps in our list than they do imo and if we can unearth or trade in / draft another 1 or 2 A grade projecting mids, we will be on our merry way.

Eagerly looking forward to Kane Cornes critiquing of the game.

Will he pot Kern?

Some damming footage of JHF vs Cripps in the last quarter just been shown by Fox….how will Kornes defend JHF on this?

Kochie on AA tomorrow morning. Will be interesting
Cornes and King should be a fun listen tomorrow morning on SEN. King loves getting stuck into him whenever Port lose.

They traded up in the first round to get Sinn. A guy who is never on the park, 6 career games and I see he's out for another 5 weeks.

Can still change, but that and the first they traded for defenders and they are starting to even waste firsts.

Port's list seems quite unbalanced to me

They've got 18 players taller than 190cm on their list, and basically all of them play key position or ruck roles. They've got like 3 pure rucks, six key forwards and eight key defenders. Very few rebound types or tall mids.

They've also ended up with five or thereabouts short small forwards. Six if you count Byrne-Jones as a forward.
