I took that to mean his mental health going forward with the public scrutiny, not that it was caused by mental health

I think Ginnivan made a mockery of the AFL and mental health last year.

Don't most players get a club-imposed suspension if they drink alcohol during a season?

Yet Tyson Stengle is going to play the next game after going to a nightclub and getting smashed to the point of passing out? And that idiot Dangerfield has the gall to justify it saying "players have a right to enjoy themselves"?

Clearly Geelong do not have standards.

Can I get a citation on that one as it's news to me.

Clubs looking to appease the media and lowest common denominator on the internet by proving they have a 'strong cultcha', maybe. Geelong obviously think they can deal with it in a different manner while also having him earn his pay by doing his job and by extension helping his teammates.

Yes, clearly it's just dealing with the problem in a "different" way. Having a player hit up a nightclub and get smashed in the middle of a season just isn't really a problem at all.

Only at Geelong.

AFL: "We are OK with how this is being handled."
Tyson Stengle: "I am OK with how this is being handled."
Geelong(most successful club of the 21st century): "We are OK with how this is being handled."

BigFooty.com user LunchtiJake98: "I am NOT OK with how this is being handled!!!"

Lmao you're not that important buddy.

Usually those no alcohol rules are enforced when having a 5 or 6 day break or during injury recovery

Yeah the same applies. Stokes did some dumb things as a young man but developed into an excellent footballer and a wonderful person. Why can't the same be true of Stengle?

I really hope he does. Too many players with ridiculous talent have been lost to the game prematurely for a variety of reasons.

How many chances does one bloke get though?

These issues clearly aren't impacting his footy and this was victimless. If that continues then he'll probably get unlimited chances and the club will try to help him out in any way they can.

It becomes a team problem if it impacts his footy because it's hard to justify someone being unprofessional within the team unit if they're not performing. It's a huge problem if his behaviour becomes worse than just writing himself off (drunk driving which he's done once before or violence which he's never been accused of). In that case he'd be given the flick pretty quick I'd think.

I also imagine his contract would have more clauses than standard with regards to off field behaviour.

This thread is so boring can't somebody make up a fun story about what happened? Currently just Geelong fans banging on about how great they are, who the **** wants to read that

What did you expect?
Geelong fans are really bad at dealing with any kind of scrutiny and criticism directed toward their club.

This excuse worked well for those Collingwood players who claimed their steaks had been spiked.

I assume he can show his credit card showing only one drink purchased. Not 17...
Should be easy since he would’ve been shouted all night
