I wonder why neither GC nor Port preferred to deal with North. Their first pick next year should be a good one.

This looks a better option for us than using our F1. Pick 2 should be worth more but isn't as useful for us as we shouldn't be looking at more mids.If the Tigers get 9&10 for Bolton then North might swap pick 2 for both 9&10 and use say 10 for Houston and still have a Top10 pick in the draft.
I doubt Richmond would trade any of 9,10,16 this year fro a pick expected to be 16+ in 2025 - Nothing to gain really as Carlton would be expected to be top 4 next year with Houston and a more experienced Carlton lineup in their windowLet's say Tigers land the Dockers late pick as part of the Bolton deal, would they trade that for our future 1st?
Suns also want more currency next year, would they trade 12 for a future 1st?
Either scenario would require shuffling of other picks
Wanting and getting is two different things.Port have stated that they want 2 early picks in this years draft not future F1st...but l think they will take 1 if its #10 or under....

Regardless of a trade outcome and draft picks etc, just general conversation butNorth would be stupid to give up pick 10 for him, by the time their list is ready for a flag tilt Houston will be getting too old.
Carlton made the same mistake a few years ago giving away pick 6 or 8 for saad, dont trade away a future 10 year player for an AA HBF in their late 20s until you are making finals and need that push to get to top 4.
Blues won't make top 4.I doubt Richmond would trade any of 9,10,16 this year fro a pick expected to be 16+ in 2025 - Nothing to gain really as Carlton would be expected to be top 4 next year with Houston and a more experienced Carlton lineup in their window
Suns will have so many better offers for their pick #12 this year with a deep draft and from what draft watchers are saying its a very shallow draft in 2025. Future picks would be around 70cents in the dollar at best imo
Factoring in this...
How about, as a starting point:
GC
Out: Lukosius, Pick 20
In: North F1
Port
Out: Houston, F2
In: Pick 20 (PP - technically end of first round), Lukosius
North
Out: F1
In: Houston, Port F2
Agree 100%.Regardless of a trade outcome and draft picks etc, just general conversation but
I think north would be crazy not to go for Houston, he would walk in and nearly be the captain (he is in our leadership group), x2 AA, probably the best player of a top 4 club. They have been bottom 4 for how long. Getting young players in with no good experience around them has not worked. Houston would be a huge stepping stone to turning the club around, much like how Brad Ebert coming to port in 2012 helped port improve training standards.
Getting Houston and Darling (and hopefully good young talent) in will improve heaps of players around them
Lucky port hold all the powerWanting and getting is two different things.
can just keep our best player at the end of the dayIf North could pull that off thats a win-win-winThis looks a better option for us than using our F1. Pick 2 should be worth more but isn't as useful for us as we shouldn't be looking at more mids.
I don't get why the club would want to offload our F1, we have a lot OOC next year that we need to dump and replace.
Why? You wanted two first rounders for him. You're getting Lukosius and a first rounder?Laughable
So we trade our best player, x2 AA for pick 20 and a 24 year old that was dropped this year. Why? You wanted two first rounders for him. You're getting Lukosius and a first rounder?
Because he doesn't want to play for North so Port Power decide the best they can get is a pick around 10 and then have to outweigh this with wanting to get back in the draft otherwise he stays. How does houston say no if Port say we will deal with North for their F1 if you want to go to melbourne
Then they could ontrade their own F1 for Luko and keep norths pick.
What pick do you value Houston at?So we trade our best player, x2 AA for pick 20 and a 24 year old that was dropped this year.
Yeah get real
How do you imagine you'll pay for Lukosius then?So we trade our best player, x2 AA for pick 20 and a 24 year old that was dropped this year.
Yeah get real
Then he plays for PortBecause he doesn't want to play for North so Port Power decide the best they can get is a pick around 10 and then have to outweigh this with wanting to get back in the draft otherwise he stays.
2 good first rounders (1 being a top 10 draft pick this yearWhat pick do you value Houston at?
It would have to be pick #6What pick do you value Houston at?
Here’s an idea, straight swap for pick 2, luko with ports future firstHow do you imagine you'll pay for Lukosius then?
Jester indeed.2 good first rounders (1 being a top 10 draft pick this year
Port hold the power unfortunately.Jester indeed.
What Power?Port hold the power unfortunately.
No really, what's your plan for Lukosius? Here’s an idea, straight swap for pick 2, luko with ports future first
