I'd be looking for an offer like this

STK get: 12, F1 (Hawthorn)
WCE get: 8

Keep in mind WCE are the new bunnys of trade period so lets get in
I think they'd be happier with pick 12 now that Freo don't have the two picks before them. Makes it more likely that they will be able to snag Allan if he is in fact their preference.

I like what Richmond have done, they know they're no where near the premiership window so they have loaded up for the future. I wish we did that in the past where we have been in a bottom half-middling team.
I get the thinking, and they didn't have much choice, but history suggests that bringing in a huge number of kids all at once into a weak side does not go well. It doesn't matter if they're the best kids in the draft. There is a certain tipping point where the team is not capable of effectively absorbing that much youth.

So if we are to target a Richmond pick which do we go after of - 1, 6, 10, 11,18, 20, 23, 24.

What #8 for #11 & 20?
If they only want future picks our F1st & F2nd for #10?

Or do we just wait until draft night and hope GWS's hard on for Travaglia grows or Richmond want to get ahead of Melbourne's pick #9.
Depends how willing they are to part with the first round picks. We could always get 24 for a F2. Pretty boring but might be easier to get done.

They dont like team colours of red white and black

Noel once used a cricket bat to attack his brother Liam. So I'm guessing they were good mates with Warnie. Warnie always brought us a few celebrity supporters, lets hope he is still looking down on us.

F1 and F2 and 8 for 6 and 14

Gives us 6+7+14+32+45

6 and 7 gives us to excellent top quality mids, 14 a slider from the top ten, 32 comes in to 28 and a decent pick, then the NGA's and FS
Richmond giving 14 to Fremantle apparently

Semantics but I don't think 32 will come in, 4 players matched in front of it and only 3 picks <32 will be used, at most. So 33 at best

I like the idea of targeting 2 of their firsts but they are in awkward ranges

Surely a mature ruckman is still the priority for us? We have limited options that won't cost more than they're worth (ie Soldo) but still the glaring missing piece I feel. Though I wouldn't be against the club giving Heath a chance.

They are absolutely cashing in off desperate clubs who seem motivated to throw huge amounts of draft capital at anything that moves.

I feel like we wouldn't have had that opportunity if we tried it at the time. These past few seasons feel totally different. Current day Gold Coast walks into a car yard, lets the salesman talk them into which car they should buy and then pays sticker price. Probably all thanks to the AFL being so generous that they really don't need to care about being savvy. That doesn't excuse the WA teams for their questionable decisions however.
All has to do with banking capital now before more compromised drafts for Tassie comes in. Reason King gets 8 years, Bolta 7 years etc.

Pick 32 will probably come in to be pick 29.

I’d rather take that pick to the draft. There will be some very good players available at that pick.

Thats fair, 32 even coming in is to me about fair (maybe slightly over).

Im happy to use it on Macrae, im thrilled if 47 does it. Thats a list management decision though. Thats gotta be Macrae for Kennedy and 47 goes to Carlton. We get Macrae, Dogs get 400k off their books with a similarly equivalent depth player and Carlton gets some points for the Camporeale twins.

I get that deal for everyone except Kennedy, IMO hes further back in the pecking order at the dogs, but thats his call.

We push the narrative that Melbourne are 100% taking Armstrong at pick 9 so if they want the best tall fwd, they need to either trade up with us so we get something good in return or one of them/Melb have to take him with an earlier pick leaving 2 of the top mids for us.

I’m absolutely comfortable with Richmond having 8/24 picks ala the expansion teams in years gone by.

They’re lacking the leadership to be able to develop it effectively. Time will tell, but this has been done before and it hasn’t worked
They’ll probably be in the same position next year. Finish last and have another three of their best 18 retire or leave.
Having the picks is great but the reality is that half of them won’t make it. Be interesting to see where they are in three or four years. They might need to trade some of their picks for players.

Trade Radio suggesting a guy from Tassie rang in 2 hours before the story broke suggesting Kemp will get traded to the Saints. Perhaps #32 to Carlton and #45 or 47 to Dogs for Macrae.
That would be pretty good. Effectively would be our original pick 27 for Kemp and Macrae.

They've essentially given up picks 13 and 14 for him.

By historical standards that's a huge price they are paying for a guy like bolton.

That kind of price is usually only reserved for megastars like say peak 26yo jeremy cameron to cats (they paid what- 3 late firsts?)

2 mid range firsts in a deep draft is a huge price for a guy who isnt a certified megastar

Keep in mind that we might still do draft pick trading on the night.
Can trade picks for a certain time after trade period, then a short break, then live trading draft period.

If we get Macrae over the line (and maybe Kemp, but he is as thrilling to me as Beau Maister coming back) we can do trade pick deals at our leisure.

Surely 32 is way overs?

Bloke has clog written all over him.
Nah, he's contracted 23 year old, key defender who played 19 games for a finalist this year. 32 is pretty close to the right value.

Might not be a star but should fill a hole immediately with plenty of development left in him.
