Sooo much this one of my lads was at a supposedly good development club this season and the coach was a Dad who was shit. So shit my lad nearly gave the game away. Changed clubs now and he seems excited for next year now.Until the junior fees are brought down to manageable levels nothing is changing IMO. This side of things is getting worse
SA state league is expanding and huge amateur league clubs (with 2-3 teams per age group) are applying to join. If they're in, junior fees will go from $250 to $800+ and we're not talking clubs in affluent suburbs here. What do they get for their money? It's still a Dad coaching, the extra cash just goes to the first team. This needs complete overhaul but how can we when A-League clubs lose money?! So many talented kids fall through the cracks in this bullshit system
There's no trickle down, we fund the game from the bottom up. Only country in the world doing this to my knowledge and it's wrong. If we failed to qualify they sack a couple board members, some fringe exec positions will change (still hire their mates to replace), maybe Poppa walks. What really gets fixed though?
We're going nowhere, this is it now (bolded). You've nailed it, we have zero further ambition than this. Self interest at higher levels has ****ed us
Absolute missed opportunity. Didn't capitalise and go 3 points clear of the rest of the group.Indonesia won at home against the Saudis. This group is a logjam of cow turds right now. Japan are on Gaia levels compared to the rest, and we somehow got a point away against them.
Even 3 wins is perfectly okay. It's all on hold for 4 months till March. We've got Indonesia at home and China away in the next round, if we get 6 points from that we'd be almost there.
If we had got one win this phase we'd be almost certainties for 2nd.
Odds are we won't get 2 wins and need to have a miracle result against Japan or away to Saudi Arabia to avoid playoffs (or missing out all together).
6 games and 1 win is insane to be 2nd in the group.
ICYMI Highlights from this mornings match against Bahrain
Probably a reasonable expectation that Burgess would trap it and look for a backpass with Ryan in a convenient spot. Also wtf was Ryan doing so far off his line! Time to move on.
Under no pressure. It was like watching Div 3 Sunday League. Horrid. Hit him mid calf.Probably a reasonable expectation that Burgess would trap it and look for a backpass with Ryan in a convenient spot.
Not that Burgess would completely **** up a simple uncontested possession and gift the Bahrain attacker the ball for no reason.
The corruption at the top is incredible. You'd think qualifying for 2006 would've changed this country, like I hoped as a teenager growing up. So full of optimism and enthusiasm.Until the junior fees are brought down to manageable levels nothing is changing IMO. This side of things is getting worse

The 2nd section is why the sport DOESNT get funding IMO.The corruption at the top is incredible. You'd think qualifying for 2006 would've changed this country, like I hoped as a teenager growing up. So full of optimism and enthusiasm.
Nope. Complete opposite. The A League is almost dead. It's literally country v country in the amateurs- Croatia v Serbian clubs for example. This shouldn't happen in Australia but it does.
The Crawford Report in 2003 has been completely ignored.
Football NSW for example is an utter joke. By far the most numbers in sports, yet the fat greedy suits up the top have completely damaged the sport.
The game in this country is being supported solely on love. Nothing else. The sport deserves funding, infrastucture being built- Brisbane for example needs a proper football stadium. A Standalone Football Australia Academy/Adminstation building, which is incredible that Football in Australia doesn't have.
I'm glad it doesn't get funding in its current state. It doesn't deserve it, the execs don't deserve more money to piss up the wallThe corruption at the top is incredible. Plenty of time to put Mitch ‘CR7/Messi’ Duke on ice so he’s primed to dominate. It's all on hold for 4 months till March. We've got Indonesia at home and China away in the next round, if we get 6 points from that we'd be almost there.

The post was in response to the blame being on Ryan.Just seen the results. So lucky. 2
This is a run of the mill error all players make from time to time. Burgess for the most part is a very accomplished CB.
To be fair it was a simply amazing finish by the Bahraini player. If he controlled it and fed his teammate the attack probably gets shut down.
I'm not going to criticise Burgess too much for this, he didn't give the ball up in the 18 yard box or anything like that.
Haydn Matthews, kid on debutWhilst we're shit canning our defenders, who was the plod who almost headed the own goal?
