This is where you are so right with this, i was so happy that we let Cochran go , the other plus is that the Filth can't complain about the academy .
Im pretty sure i posted after the VFLGF that KB was keen on Bice and he got his way . Will play round 0

We agree on something haha

IF we really want a Key Defender, Clancy Dennis is still available for the rookie draft.

U/18 All Australian defender (the only WA kid to be selected, alongside Bo Allan). 195cm. Strong.

And from Claremont.
Yeah, seems to be more highly rated than Bell, also available.

Who needs a 195 cm player that came first in the 2km at the combine, as well as being a state ranked 400 & 800 meter athlete? I mean what could you possibly do with a kid like that in development?
Not trying to sound smart, but have you actually watched him play?

He was a fringe very late/rookie selection. He would have to improve dramatically to make it at senior level.

Oh no, I didn't realise we'd let tall Jack Hiscox slip through our fingers.

Now I see why JackHiscoxWasFast wasn't happy with this draft.

Harry Armstrong also indicated that we were really never in to him , surely we aren't just happy with Amartey and Dos , god help us . But then we were so keen on Kennedy , putting a lot of time in to him .

Hopefully means play one less useless FWD that’s my hope

Was pretty upset about no Kennedy and Armstrong , but so happy for 2 great young men and quality families.
Had the pleasure of being with both and the joy in the Kennedy home was something else .
Clubs do it well , within 10 minutes the Bont had sent Luke a message .
It was a big night .
Are you allowed to tell us if we were his preferred destination?

Hopefully the kid is happy, thats all that really matters.

One of the YT preview videos made this point on Cochran:

"..they don't need Joel Cochran from a list point of view, it's just that he's talented"

Presumably the list management team saw it that way as well?

Goes to show that it really was a deep draft with 71 players taken. Last year 64 and the year before 59.
On balance over two nights, not hugely happy with the draft. Will back any player we draft however.

Looking at it, lack of KPFs is weird and not hugely happy about not stashing one away at our first picks.

eh, see how it plays out over the never few years
I just pray that Harry Armstrong doesn't turn into the next Jeromy Cameron.

I could see this being the case, as it does look like Andrew (or others) would be seen as better legitimate KPDs.

This level of list analysis doesn't really fit with other choices though. Where was this when we took an attacking half back?

Always a juggling act though the rebounding HB might have been so high up on our board we had to take him as so called “best available”

Don’t think we should be going for another defender
You were ok with Bell last night?

We might see someone like Snell or Andrew as potential up forward, or be looking to go smaller up forward, so defence is the priority.

If we went another KPD, our 2026 stocks might look like this, which would still be 1 less than the 7 I think we probably need (especially with travelling emergencies, durability of those first 2), but could go a mature ager at that point.

Tmac
Melican
Edwards

Snell
Andrew
Rookie

I am good with Bell actually but I don’t think we take a defender gut feeling more than anything
