Looks like we’re going to get a fair chunk of match sim.

In even better news for you lads, Murphy in the A team.

General question here for everyone.
Are there any reports , speculative or otherwise, about the leadership group this year? Last year's 26-man leadership squad (okay, okay, 7 or 8 🤷) was a pretty embarrassing look, I'm hoping it's trimmed down to 4. Any ideas or thoughts on who we'd like to see?
ABN is expected to be in the leadership team according to Matt Turner tweet

I mean... I know the Tools supporters like to make jokes about Adelaide being full of corporates, rather than fans, but making an Australian Business Number a member of our leadership team is taking things just a bit too far. ;)

Oh... you meant ANB - Alex Neal-Bullen?

Bigman calling the club to find out where they're training is all like "If you're looking for press credentials, I don't have press credentials. What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a long career. I will look for you, I will find you, and I will report on you"

Cmon mate, it was a big deal the whole football world was aware of.

I am sure Josh was thrilled to be publicly scolded by his teammates, then dropped by his coach on the national stage for the last game of the year. Would you have been happy?
A player agent from his managers stable said the Rachele camp was pissed initially (trade radio I think it was)

You make valid points!

I think though that cluelessness is at the foundation of it all.

Eg the midfield talk and training in preseason.

Nicks sinply hadn't thought it through. It seemed like a good idea. It seemed like the right thing to do.

What does it mean for our structure though? Who kicks our goals? Who gets squeezed out of the midfield when Rachele goes in there? He hadn't considered those things, because he's an idiot. When push came to shove it didn't happen. No malice intended initially. Just a people-pleasing promise, like college tuition for Scott's Totts.

Then the season starts. Nicks needed Dawson in there, Crouch, Laird, Soligo. He also promised Rankine midfield time. No room for Josh and that thought would have flown out of his head.

The vendetta perhaps sneaks in at the next stage. Angry that Rachele pointed out his idiocy publicly. Caught him out peddling bullshit and reacted angrily, with his midfield-time-over-my-dead-body reaction. Angry of course because the criticism has an element of truth.

Later the child-like ebb and flow. Criticism before realising that it's a bad look to be bagging one of our best up and coming young players, who's here on a huge contract and popular with fans. So gushing, over the top praise.
Add in his comments after the Geelong game where Curtin got 6 minutes game time and effectively told the world in the presser, that he didn’t trust the kid in a close game.
Talks before he thinks

No, I think Nicks holds team values very highly. He would have been direct with Josh, as he was with the midfield in that Amazon doco. I don't think he's as cuddly behind doors as he presents publicly.
There was someone on here a few weeks ago that claimed some players said that he is too cuddly. (Yes I know hearsay)

Hi bigman,

Do you have any thoughts on whether Riley Thilthorpe is going to bring it all together this year and what role do you see him playing in the sims? Does he look like he's raging to get at it or just cruising along?

Im not sure I believe that TBH, we've seen him give some sprays.

I think the messaging appears inconsistent, at least from the outside looking in.
Definitely appears to treat seniors with kid gloves, but comfortable to take shots at the younger players.

See him defending Brodie Smith to the end of the earth while he talked down guys like Rachele, Dowling and Curtin.

Wouldn't be the first coach in history to do that.

No, but we're a very young team and he's gonna put the majority of the list off-side if he continues down that path.
I mean he keeps picking them.

We see less than 5% of the communications between player and coach, I think there would be a lot more noise coming from the club if the younger guys were all unhappy.

Besides saying "theyre not quite ready", what did Nicks say about Curtin and Dowling that was so nasty ??

I checked out Adelaide uni as well but no dice.

Wherever it was, hopefully we find out so I’ll know where to check next time.

No report today sorry guys, hopefully one of the Advertiser lads went along.
Is this just a clever ruse to claim you are not the Advertiser journalist Simeon(?) ;)

They scrubbed an entire press conference because of him saying he didn't want to pick Dowling because he went through pre-season not having any plans to debut him in 2024.
