Discussion pertaining to the NBA mega trade involving Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis. The Mavericks going for a win now and need move with effectively no centres available on their roster.

Furthermore, with this move, the Mavs escape the supermax extension Donc was eligible for. Given President Trumps threats and introduction of tariffs, expectations of costs to be passed onto American consumers will lead to higher costs of living. The Mavs are fiscally wise.

Absolutely crazy

Guess they didn't have faith in themselves to be able to put the necessary pieces around Luka without much assets nor.cap room

If you are going to sell him surely you try and get 7 first round picks back rather than a two season window of Kyrie and AD

Hawks might win the Luka/Trae trade afterall
I mean they arguably had the pieces around him. They made the finals last year and when fit this year still had a good record

More to this I think. Luka likely told him he would go into free agency and Dallas threw him out. For Lakers this was probably always the plan for when he hit free agency but went early trying to get LeBron to stay on next season

LeBron will have to be more of a facilitator while Vanderbilt/Hayes gotta move to C and do a job. Lakers won the trade easily but maybe not as big a win as people think

He is contracted for 2 more years still anyway so the threat would mean little yet. And if so the GM surely comes out and admits it to Dave face?

Still doesn’t justify settling for that pathetic package.

Looks like the Lakers won the Luka/Trae trade.

That's fair. I'm not convinced they are a better chance in the short term and they are definitely not a better chance in the long term

They want to compete now still. Even with Davis they are still title contenders
They traded the future of the franchise to be like the 4th or 5th best team in the league at best and be old with limited picks going forward. The GM should be fired and black listed from the NBA

This. Luka is lazy but he’s one of the most valuable pawns in the NBA.
Dallas won’t win anything now or in the foreseeable future.

I think they are dumb enough to think this improves their chances this season is all.

Can’t tank with Kyrie and Klay eating so much salary to be honest.

For Mavs they now probably have to move on PJ Washington for a SF. I suspect Davis plays PF and he is the odd man out.
