OK the first official Sydney injury update has been posted on the Swans site.

It has so far been reposted in the 'Opening Round' thread, the 'pre-season' thread and the 'Season 2025' thread.

So I'm thinking it's time for the annual injury thread.

The much reposted injury list;

For the record;

Jack Buller
Forward Jack Buller sustained a shoulder injury in the match simulation played last Wednesday. He is expected to miss 2-4 weeks of football.

Logan McDonald
Logan’s progress from post-season ankle surgery has been delayed. He is completing conditioning-based running but is yet to recommence football drills.

Jesse Dattoli
Jesse continues in his rehabilitation from a lumbar stress reaction. He is completing gym-based reconditioning and is expected to recommence running in the next 2-4 weeks.

Hayden McLean
Hayden finished last season with groin pain and underwent an individual rehabilitation program over the offseason. He has recommenced team training this week.

Will Edwards
Will suffered a fractured leg in last year’s VFL match against Collingwood. He required follow up surgery in December.
He has now commenced conditioning running and will look to reintegrate into team skills over the coming month.

And can I just say how pleased I am that I am finally the top contributor in a thread.
Albeit the only contributor.

When is saw this thread, the first thing I thought was, "oh gosh, who now?"

Buller seems to be cursed. If he can't get some decent football into him this year I can see us letting him go.

So 4 forwards and a key defender so far. Ouch.

That's going to make for some interesting challenges up front. Do we play Isaac in the forward line to help plug the gaps?

From HSun/Code (Lachie McKirdy):

Jesse Dattoli (back) – back in gym-based reconditioning and has commenced running again at training. Still not expected to return until April at the earliest. 8-10 WEEKS

Logan McDonald (ankle) – Has been delayed into pre-season after taking longer to recover from ankle surgery. The forward is running strongly and kicking the ball but has yet to be integrated back into full training. 3-4 WEEKS

Jack Buller (shoulder) – Suffered a shoulder injury during a match simulation but is working his way back to full training. Running and marking strongly but unlikely to feature early in the season. 2-3 WEEKS

Hayden McLean (groin) – Lingering groin pain from last season now looks to be behind McLean and he’s back in team training. Will have a first major hit-out in Friday’s intra-club match simulation. 1-2 WEEKS

Will Edwards (leg) – Had complications with a leg fracture from last year but now is returning to skills training. Still a few weeks away from full team training. 2-3 WEEKS

Jake Lloyd (foot) – Has some bone bruising on his foot after a training incident. Isn’t expected to miss any of the season but is slowly being managed at training. 1-2 WEEKS

So McLean will be right to go for the Suns game and Rd 0 vs Hawks as per last update.

Their wording about Buller is a bit confusing. First game is about 25 days away (three weeks plus). They say he is two to three weeks away and yet expected to miss early part of the season?

McLean and Lloyd doubtful for round 0. Don’t know whether to drown myself in beers or pop bottles of champagne.

Given I like strong tacklers, champagne it is !
This must be what it feels like for parents seeing their teenage children go through their emo phase. Put down the black eye-liner and turn off the Jude Bolton highlights son!! Think of all the joy fast players have brought to the game!!

22 days, and is coming off several issues, not an established player either, so wouldn't be rushed in.

This would be for the AFL season, not VFL as that starts 2 weeks later.

35 of 44 listed players named for the practice match by my count.

Mcdonald, Cunningham, Papley, Mills, Dattoli, Edwards, Buller, Snell and Lloyd either injured or I would think for a few of them at least being eased into the season and not up to full speed yet?

The 2-3 weeks is when they become available. It could be they won't play for another 2-3 weeks depending on how conditioning and match practice goes.
