Sanders had 30 & 3 yesterday I saw on Twitter.

They have to play him surely. From memory they traded up to get the kid and he will be out of contract next year I'd imagine.
Yeah, he was in everything yesterday, just so impressive. That said, his opposing midfield was pretty average after the 1st Qtr. Wasn't much of a first possession winner, but ran and received out of the middle. He's going to be F5, depending on Bevo's brilliant plan

Anyone else stuck in a Sanders/Kennedy situation?
Doesn't help bevo scares me and probably plays one back pocket. Kennedy is more proven and we know he can score, but Sanders is 200k less and has all the potential. That 200k could turn a mid priced into a premo.

In before we start Sanders and he's on 80 at half time round 1, and gets tactical subbed
I think Sanders price settled the dilemma for me ....IMO Sanders role is more assured than Kennedy, who may be thrown forwrd

Agree, think the subs were a first year player thing/how he reacted, feel like this year he wont get subbed but who knows.

No one really wanted Kennedy. He was moved late in the trade period to a team where he won't be a first choice midfielder. I'm sure Kennedy would have preferred Melbourne, Essendon, St Kilda or Collingwood for a better chance at an inside mid role. None of them came to the table. Doggies were a late choice and last resort.

On that basis, I just can't see why the Dogs would favour Kennedy over their prodigious midfield rookie. Kennedy also has more flexibility - is a decent overhead mark, and a tough player that can even do a role in the back half.

Surely he plays a similar role to what he did at Carlton - Mr Fixit and Sanders gets the keys.

People would say - well why would he go to the Dogs if he was just tabled to play the role he was at Carlton. In response to that I think it's 1. Blues wanted to move his salary on, so no worse being at the Dogs than the Blues for Kennedy and 2. Maybe he's hoping for a Libba retirement that may clear the way for an inside midfielder with experience from 2026 onwards (no similar imminent retirements at the Blues).

F5? Damn your fwd line is stacked!
I have him f2 🤣

There are a lot of similar priced picks. Let's be real, teams could change by 50% after Thurs selections the week after Round 0

Does anyone remember the stretch of games baker played half back last year or maybe it was 2023?Want to go in and confirm the scores he got when playing back. He's had some niggles this pre season but he could be big value in our fwd line

Pretty sure he had three tons in a row at one stage.

He won't be the distributor. The Eagles don't score well in the backline anyway.
I doubt he has any more than a couple points of value at most

What's your thoughts on Maric as a selection ?
I have question marks over whether he's best 22 for us.

But if he is playing at half back he is probably a 70-75 average. So he's value but I'd question how much
He's not in my side until I see what it looks like in Pre Season and if he's seemingly best 22.

Priced at 40ish yeah, but I'm not sure how much. I'm hoping he goes closer to 70 or more but it could easily be 55-60 and then may as well have a rookie
There's a few around that price point that could also go around 70, Erasmus and H Garcia, Lynch is also an option with the potential for spike games (looping option)

Garcia i agree with, Erasmus I'm a no. Erasmus I see having almost no job security despite the seemingly random hype about him this year.
Hes still pretty far back in the pecking order

That's interesting re Erasmus, I was going off a Freo supporter's recommendation, like most I suppose, a watch n see.

Garcia came into my side this arvo. Can see him going 80s to start the year if he gets a proper crack at it.

I might be a bit pessimistic but I don't see him getting a proper crack at it. In the VFL he got some pretty big scores (avg of approx 108) but that was due to incredible tackle numbers that probably aren't realistic at AFL level, particularly when you already have a tackling machine like Steele in your midfield. He only averaged about 20 possessions per game as a full-time mid (I believe) last year, which is hardly knocking the door down for a shot at AFL level. When he did make it into the St Kilda team he didn't really impress either. Feel like they'll go with Windy as a main 3rd mid with Sinclair and some others rolling through rather than Garcia. Happy to be proven wrong though, if he does get a proper crack at CBAs he is a bargain

Great insights here.

I'm a freo supporter.

He's right, there is almost no job security for Erasmus. He is a ball magnet on the inside and racks it up at WAFL level, but it's very hard to see him get much of that sort of role at AFL level. He's also a poor kick so it's hard to see him even getting a flanker role with limited CBAs.

Brayshaw, Serong, Young are guaranteed inside mid 3.

Then you add Bolton who will take some time.

Johnson is much further ahead in the pecking order than Erasmus, and also has better disposal and is faster so suits the balance of outside and inside more needed from the 4th mid.

There are quite a few others fighting for inside time too, like Noddy, Fyfe, Jaeger, Brodie etc. Sure Erasmus would probably be favoured over those types, but all of them present different issues for Erasmus job security.

He's also been quite often subbed in or out of games.

I certainly won't be picking him unless things seriously change during the pre season games.

Yeah the fact that he’s likely to be sub puts me off. Damn, can’t they just get rid of the sub rule
