Under Age U16s - 2028 AFL Draft General Discussion

Really early guess at 2028 Draft.

View attachment 2200921
Mac Seebeck is 194cm at 14 years of age?!?! Holy moly. Google suggests he played in the U16s national championships one month after his 14th birthday. Obviously his height would've helped in that selection, but it's still impressive to have made the team at that age.

Could be wrong here, but is Mac Seebeck the son of 1999 Sandover Medalist ruck Gus Seebeck? That would explain the height.

Harry ClokeBroadbeach SEQJGold Coast Academy/AlliesGC
The Cloke surname lives on. Harry is the son of Collingwood F/S pick Jason Cloke, the nephew of Collingwood F/S picks Cameron & Travis Cloke and the grandson of 333 Collingwood + Richmond Hall of Famer David Cloke. Jason only played 76 games for the Pies so that means Harry isn't F/S eligible for Collingwood, but is academy eligible for the Suns due to living on the Gold Coast for most of his life.

Seebeck and Cloke may end up proving to be a deadly key forward duo for the Allies in 2028. Time will tell.

I wonder if both are related to another WAFL Seebeck in John (1 game for the Black Ducks in 1936.)

It'd be awesome if Harry made it. There aren't too many third generation players running around in the AFL and Cloke is obviously one of the more famous names that we've seen in the history of the game. Seeing some famous surnames like Rioli, Long and Cloke running around in the same team in a few years from now would be pretty cool.

Can't wait to expand it through the year

Likewise.

Look forward to the U15 All-Australian side confirming or denying your possible rankings.

Good luck to everyone in this crop this year.

Little 2029 name drop teaser for you guys.

Some names I'm interested in reading about:

Arli Walker. (Son of Andrew and brother of Cody.) (Already being spoken about.)
Ray Lonie. (Son of Nathan but FS ineligible.)
James Mastropasqua. (Stood 184cm in U12's.)
Sid McLachlan. (Gill's son.)
Kai White. (Son of Jeff and brother of Kalani.)

I believe there's a set of Bermingham twins from SA.

So you mean to tell me we're getting Arli Walker and Oscar Judd in the same year???

Assuming Oscar Judd doesn't elect to join West Coast as a F/S pick and Arli Walker doesn't elect to join Richmond as an NGA pick. Carlton could legitimately get both, one or none.

I'd imagine West Coast will start really ramp up their efforts to recruit Oscar next year when the Judds attend the 20 year anniversary of West Coast's 2006 flag.

As far as I know Oscar is far more interested in his cricket at this stage unfortunately. I actually teach his babysitter at school

Best mates with Ned Bolton (Brendan's son), but from what I've been told he's no chance of heading over West.

Hoping like hell Arli and Cody don't get swayed to the dark side.

I do wonder how all of this is going to work with these priority access prospects considering 2028 will be the second national draft that Tasmania will take part in. I'd imagine Tassie already have their eyes on juniors like Ned Bolton considering the old man is Tasmanian and they'll want to create as many natural connections to Tassie as they possibly can at the beginning.

But, my real question is, will Tasmania's initial priority access overide father-son and/or NGA + northern academy access? And will Tasmania be given father-son access to players who have a father that originated from Tassie? For example, will Tasmania have F/S access to Connor Rawlings in 2028 because his old man Brady played over 100 AFL games (245 for North) and grew up in Tasmania? So many unanswered questions...

Anyway. I'm sure Richmond will try their best to recruit both Arli (2028) and Cody (2026) through their NGA program, but you'd think that's pretty unlikely at this stage. Having said that, you would think Richmond are still pretty heavily in their rebuilding phase next year when Cody comes through and who knows what they'd be willing to offer him to turn his back on the Blues. Oscar Judd (2028) with West Coast seems unlikely too, but that's assuming he chooses footy over cricket and it sounds like that's not guaranteed either.

From what I saw at a holiday footy program Ned won't be troubling too many AFL recruiters 😅. Meant to be a very good cricketer though.

Not sure on the Tassie side of it re F/S and NGA access. Would hope it's largely unaffected but wouldn't be surprised to see some changes made to help them start up.

A few 2010 born 2028 draft eligible players in the best in WAFL Futures in the first round as underagers.
Dylan Paap - Subiaco
Samuel Keys - East Perth
Ashley Clayton - Perth
Jai Keene - Peel
Reid Gellatly - Peel
Tom Brown - West Perth
Liam Beauclarke - South West Talent Academy
I wonder if Dylan Paap is the son of former Subiaco player Shane, who was a tough, no nonsense defender and played 84 league games for the Lions?

Oscar came over to WCE last year for Father son camp but like you said is liking cricket more at the moment

I believe Baxter sruk will be a good player watched him in the u17 Coates game and already showing signs of being a great football player as a underaged kid
