I prefer a deep cut than mucking around but I'd be terrified Richmond have gone too hard and condemned themselves to years of losing big which generally sees the coach sacked (or multiple coaches), a bunch of young players physically and mentally worn out and then board, sponsors etc all lose faith and compounding problems.
More like Hawthorn (under Mitchell at least) or Freo than going full North.
I'm still shocked Richmond took so many picks in one year rather than space them out and that they didn't add some veterans from elsewhere just to bring some fresh leadership and to take some hits for the kids.
I'd much rather finish 3rd last winning 7 games, play the 5 kids who are ready and have some fun than finish dead last winning 3 games, throw in 10 kids half of whom aren't physically ready and cop a lot of beltings.
If they get really lucky with health they might not be that bad but there's a chance this goes really bad in a hurry.
Holmes was our best finals player. Ollie Henry not far behind. Mannagh and Miers too. In the prelim, Danger, Cameron and Stewart were average-decent rather than outstanding. The other oldies were non factors. Humphries, Neale, Dempsey et al gained valuable finals experience and are really early into their careers. Smith is a proven finals performer.
But yeah...I wish Geelong were a truly terrible side right now, hoping that in 5 years they might be competitive again. I truly envy you MR.
Let's look at who received coaches votes for Geelong in the 2024 finals series:Jeez I know you are desperate for validation when you start trying to sell us one of the oldest teams in the history of mankind as being full of young stars with huge upside.
Your last winning final you fielded the oldest team in the whole finals series.

Let's look at who received coaches votes for Geelong in the 2024 finals series:
-Holmes 10 (then our best player in the prelim before getting injured)
-Mannagh 7
-O.Henry 4
-Blicavs 4
-Miers 3
-Cameron 3
-Dangerfield 3
-Stengle 2
-Zuthrie 1
3 veterans, then 6 players with a lot of football left. Very similar to having 3 veterans finish top 10 in the BnF, with 7 having a lot of football left.
2 of our 3 AA nominees in 2024 had played 161 games of AFL between them. Humphries finished top 5 in the best first year players in the AFL, while Dempsey did extremely well in the Rising Star award (accepting that suspensions elevated him to 1st).
Keep desperately trying to spin it otherwise, but you're merely looking like a fool as always.

Geelong have had experienced teams playing finals for around the last 17 seasons. The fact that they did so last year with many high performers who have 5-10 years of quality football ahead of them, doesn't exactly ring alarm bells.Lol, there are dead set 2 players under 25 and none who are going to be greats. Not actually that tough to spin that team as old, as they were the oldest team in the finals, lol.
Also MR seems to have conveniently drawn a new line for "old" players at 26 or above. It used to be 30, but now we are set to imminently say goodbye to the likes of Miers, Mannagh, Zuthrie and Stengle as they are in their "over the hill" phase. Smith at 23 has maybe 2 decent years left. They have shown more than any of the young players u so confidently back to take you to your next 3peat!

Do they need to be? Who gives a shit.
I notice you had nothing to say to my last reply, that comprehensively dismissed your latest round of nonsense.People who prefer facts to fiction.![]()
In other words you've got nothing and are now babbling about completely irrelevant nonsense.Mate you live on here due to having no meaningful life, everybody knows that. So you are never getting responses to every tormented post you make from Mr Life here. I have just discovered GTA. Loving stealing armoured vehicles one out and man alone and belting 7 bells out of the guards. Anyway, why am I telling you about GTA, you would have no doubt spent at least half your life on it.
In other words you've got nothing and are now babbling about completely irrelevant nonsense.
A sad, pathetic old man. It's entertaining hearing about a 70 year old discovering GTA though. Better than sudoku.

Lol Holmes can't kick.
Guthrie is a nerdvirgin.
Stengle is a junkie.
Miers & Dempsey shit scared.
Close is a plodder and Henry is such a superstar he has 100 goals+assists in 45 matches at Cats as a specialist deep forward.
Clownshow of a top 10.
Your ass must feel like a worthless contributor given the amount of shite that comes out of your mouth.
For your sanity, I hope so.Geelong looked a bit old and slow against Essendon.. at their Kardinia Park training ground which is always a fortress, and all their superstars are in their 30s.. aka Cameron, Stewart and Dangerfield.
Hawkins will be a bigger loss than most think.. sure they did alright last year when he was out for periods of time.. but opposition teams were caught off guard, because Geelong's forward structure completely changed without Hawkins. Opposition analysts have now had the entire off season to study Geelong's forward 50 system.
I think Geelong will slide from top 4 to mid table.. what are your thoughts??
You are on record saying Geelong had a better list in 2023.. than they did in 2022... after Geelong slid from 1st to 12th, the injury excuses were rolled out.. what happened to all that depth??For your sanity, I hope so.
Can you show me that? I predict Geelong will finish 5th-8th just about every year. Usually that becomes an underestimation. You are on record saying Geelong had a better list in 2023.. than they did in 2022... after Geelong slid from 1st to 12th, the injury excuses were rolled out.. what happened to all that depth??
