Struggle to come to terms with a group of guys on say $1.5million collectively can think what we watched tonight is the way forward.

It's almost identical to how it's been for years. Just slower and more 10m kicks to a contest.

This club hasn't a heart beating right at the moment. It's dead. Gamestyle, worst coaching group ever put together, and not a ripple of hope or excitement throughout the fan base.

Well played Koch, Richardson, Davies and Hinkley.

Mission complete.

It's very early but nevertheless I'm also predicting we won't make the 8. Feel like it's going to be a long season.
Letting Houston go who was so important in this side with his generational skills and vision was inexcusable.
Jack Lukosius if we are basing our forward line around him we are in big trouble I am not a fan of his way too laconic. Atkins as a recruit embarrassing.
Hinkley saying he knows when it’s time to go but then hangs around until the end of the year? Should have cut his ties immediately.
We have been up there for a while and I think this is the year we fall off a cliff.

I’m worried about the Lukosius deal too. Have watched him numerous times over these past five years and I can’t recall thinking, “I wish we had him”. Now Will Day is an ex-SA players that I would love to have. Would trade Rozee for him.

Will Day will captain Hawthorn put your house on it.

Calm your farm people, this is a practice match after all, doesn't really emulate a real game with a hundred blokes on the Bench and trying a few different things.

Yes, it is a practice game, and you should take the outcome with a grain of salt. It was not as bad as the 2022 preseason, but there were some eerily undertones like pre-season in 22.

Regardless who we have on the field we will be 1 and 1 after 2 rounds so need things to be settled by round 3 which is 5 weeks away
Defence the concern need bzt and esava back by then.
But does it really matter ? ken will continue to deliver what he normally does slow start to preseason some early wins against lower and middle table sides, a handful of concerning losses to good sides a couple of emotional wins mid season, a decent finish to the minor round, a place somewhere in the 8 then bomb out in finals again. Surprised if there is a variation to that.

Hell yeah footys back boys! Can you feel the electricity in the air power fans??? Only a pre-season game. Back in the boys and they'll get it done for Kenny this year! Cant wait to wave my scarf in the air with all you true believers!

Hinkley was forward coach at Geelong during the 07 to 09 era , we've always played the opposite to those cats. Why does he never play anything like that ?
The forwardline of those years was a massive beneficiary of the work of the defence and midfield... The actual forward game in isolation looked better in 2010 and 2011, when JPod came in to it.

Ken please leave now and just let Carr take over ffs
Anyone else just feel drained season hasn't even started yet and I've had enough lol
Not a single sign of hope or improvement
Vanilla as F*CK
Yep - what could Carr possibly learn from Hinkley at this point? Get rid of him now.

I'm a bit more positive about the game than many others. It is pre-season and it is never worth taking too much out of it from a results perspective. To me, you are looking for any shining lights who stood out.

I thought our draft class this year looked exceptional. Berry was super clean and looks firm for round one. Whitlock definitely has great potential. Moraes looked like he had some X-factor, even when he got chased down. Benny Barrett looks so exciting and much better than I'd anticipated. Thought Cochrane had a spark too.

Separately, Joe Richards looked really lively.

We do unfortunately still have a fair few pretty average players at the bottom 1/3 of our list.

Always tough to judge these games. Saying that a few of my observations (from first 3 qtrs):

If anyone thinks Houston won't be a massive loss has rocks in their head. Reckon we gave away at least 4 goals from missing the simplest of targets coming out of defence.
At least Berry looks the goods, hope in the real stuff he can find enough of the ball as good things happen when he gets it.
Thought L.Jones was one of our best, still have a heart attack anytime he's near the ball but he was good today. Although had to laugh when the comm said he "professionally fumbled the ball over the line". Nah mate that's just Lachie trying to pick up a routine ground ball.
Richards worked his way into it, then by the end of 3 was one of our best.
Bergman and JHF our 2 best. Or maybe it was just the same player, hard to tell apart at best of times let alone on today's broadcast.
Got the full luko experience. Completely missing for 40 mins, squibbed a few contests, kicked a goal into the wind that went 60m, and another beautiful pass inside 50. If Toddy riled people up then I can't wait to see some of the reactions watching this bloke this year!
Lorenz & Sinn very disappointing.
SPP continually snapshots from 40 on the run directly in front is Baffling.
And perhaps the most enjoyable of all was the 20 mins of dominance we had in the third that resulted in 0 scoreboard pressure only to have the crows walk it from D50 to the goalsquare for an easy goal. Footys back!
