Could be affect his trajectory as a talent

Not good

Charlie on the cusp as well

Season almost over before it has even started

Normally it is pretty easy to diagnose an ACL injury, right? Or at least have significant concerns about it.

Perhaps our medicos need a refresher.

Just ridiculous. So innocuous. Sick of this. Taking some time out. Not blaming anyone in particular but this has to be one of the most frustrating clubs in world sport to follow.

His durability was one of his main pros when we drafted him. Literally hasn't missed a game in years.

This last bit is the part that hurts the most. Durable kid and first time he puts the jumper on he does the worst injury in footy. Pure curse on this club plain and simple. It’s becoming really difficult for the supporters now and the players would be feeling the same also unfortunately. It’s the reason why the pies and saints games happened the past few years as well. Just devastating.

Oh God Hbo GIF by SuccessionHBO

Cant make this shit up if you tried.

This is obviously heart breaking but the amount of season over calls already are absurd

If our season hinged on a 0 game draft prospect then it was already over.

All good teams get it done with injuries, and losing our first year pick shouldn't derail anything.
Its not about the player but structure.. there was a reason the club moved heaven and earth to acquire him.

Not only does it affect the now but this can have serious repercussions on his trajectory as a talent and footballer.

last year SOJ and Docherty do ACL's in preseason this year only pick#3 does one - that is signs of definite improvement if you don't count Charlie is out for who knows how long and Newie is out for the year...

gotta laugh really. FMD way to blow expectations out the door.

Eventually a club will have the balls to say to Afl we don’t want to play any praccy matches. The day will come.
Eventually, a club will say "we shouldn't be doing all this dangerous training, just give us the premiership cup now. We were going to be winning it this year anyway according to the media".

Shit happens. Injuries happen. It's a full contact sport. What are we going to do? Turn it into flag football?

Well there goes our point of difference in the midfield and the most exciting prospect to walk into the club since Walsh 6 years ago. It’s another body blow to add to the long list over the past few years. Hopefully he’ll be back in 12 months as the same or a better play (like guys like Petracca and Ashcroft) but ultimately whichever way you slice it this is shit news for Jagga and our prospects this season.

Footy, sport, pastimes… are meant to bring some levity and enjoyment to life. Plenty of dark clouds gathering around the globe at the moment, so was really looking forward to watching us this year as a distraction to the negativity. I’m usually a pretty positive and optimistic person, but looks like even the footy is ****ed… from a Carlton footy perspective I’m now at 2014 levels of enthusiasm, it’s already looking like the injuries will mount up and we’ll buckle under inability to gain any cohesion from being able to field a consistent 22 week to week.

Absolutely deflated by this injury. Was pumped to see Smith play round 1 and give us a point of difference we lack. Walsh Curnow now Smith. Flat as a tack right now and after 20 plus years of abject failure as a club it’s shit like this that has likely broken any enthusiasm I had for footy in 2025.

I expect a middling year now. Finish 8-15. Can’t even summon a silver lining right now… it’s just SHIT!

SSP ended on Friday as well. This sort of stuff just does not happen to other clubs. Genuinely sickening. Devastated for him.

Didn’t the BL’s have 5 knee reco’s last season…early rounds too.

This is why you fill your list rather than holding an open list position for the MSD.

Our midfield is essentially the same as last season minus Kennedy and Carrol.
