What the ****. An JDM upgrade to fighting Belal for the undisputed

What a crazy ****ing day
Put a boring ass fighter like Belal against an exciting weapon like JDM

Curious to see how it goes

Can't hate on Toporia vacating and moving up.

After literally finishing two of the greatest ever that have dominated the division there isn't much left for him to do

Not holding up the division either which I like

I don't hate it either. Tbh I don't need to see him fight again at 145, what he did to Volk and Max is legendary he doesn't need to defend that division, I wanna see him move up

JDM needs to land something early to gain some respect off Belal and stop him just walking forward to hug him. Being a southpaw I hope he works on that rear liver kick and just pound that ****wits body with it

Big day for the Aussies!

Volk is obviously on the way down, but Lopes is a good match-up for him, aside from the massive size discrepancy. Would be a fairytale for him to win this then defend against Evloev, but I'm getting a bit excited.

On the other hand, don't like JDM's chances. Belal will underestimate him though, and JDM is only just coming into his prime, so him stepping up to the big time wouldn't be a massive shock.

Reading between the lines, I'd say Topuria's move is more about his struggle with the cut than anything else. With two youngish guys ready or just about ready for a title shot (Lopes, Evloev), the division still holds its challenges. He's very small for lightweight, but the power clearly translated in the Herbert fight so worth a shot rather than ruining your body with difficult weight cuts.

2 Aussie’s in championship fights coming up 👏🏼
Some Aussie gold would be cool, but both very tough asks.

Volk can't complain having losses in 3 of his past 4 (2 x Islam, 1 x Ilia) and with his last 2 fights both L's.

Some very cool and exciting matchups on the way.

Agree, but at the same time I don't want to see Islam fighting another 145er. He's probably the best lightweight ever but through no fault of his own, his resume is pretty dull

An Ilia warm up fight first against Dustin, Justin or Charles would be unreal

Islam should be in the JDM spot challenging for 170 gold

Agreed, Lopes goes fast and hard but can get quite lose. Volks size and crisp striking are exactly what Lopes doesn't want. Can see Volk going early with the threat of take downs so that Lopes lowers his already low hands and getting picked apart by Volk. If he's anything like the old Volk.

Only worry is if Volks chin is capable of taking a few as Lopes is so lose he'll land a couple, but Lopes hasn't fought anyone at Volks level. Anything close to the Volk of '23 and he wins.

Good: Volks taken over a year off to recover. Bad: A year off at 36 also isn't great.

ilia has vacated so he's as much a 155er as Dustin is to be fair. Would be cool if Ilia did the poatan thing and fought a fight in the division first against like a Poirier or Tsaruykan to spring board to a title shot.

The top four fights are all worth tuning in for in their own right.

Plus the Miller vs Hooper and Ige vs Woodson fights on the undercard as a bonus.

On paper, this looks like one of the better PPV cards we have seen lately.

As for Ilia vacating, if there's one thing Islam's career record needs, it's another title defence against a featherweight.

Seriously, since he won the title, he has beaten:

* 2x featherweight (including one fight on short notice)

* a 35yo striker (who was 2-2 in his previous four fights)

* a 34yo (on a day's notice).

I say this as an Islam fan.

According to some there is only one possible results for Volk and JDM.

Volk is 36+ so must lose.
Belal is 36+ so must lose.

At least we’ve got one champ locked in.

I'm happy for Ilia to face Islam straight up.
An Ilia win means a few fresh title matchups in 155 div (a loss still means some cool non title matchups), and also Islam, win or lose, could then hit WW which would be tantalisingly tantalising.
I was reading alot of comments saying Ilia hasn't done enough at 145 to move and I think people are missing the point. Has he done enough to be called the greatest ever at 145? No. He might say that himself but he hasn't but that's not the point. If he goes up and wins the 155 title, he goes above Max and Volk and alot more on the greatest of all time list not just one division.

Bit like Poatan, he's not the greatest middleweight ever but he's above Izzy on the all time list.

For sure, I think if a champ moves up they should get a TS straight away, that's fair enough.

I don't think it should be that black and white. If Belal moved up would you be happy to see him get a straight middleweight shot?

I respect giving up the belt to move up but I think it can't be that black and white.

Agree

But considering he just ko'ed max & Volk in this instance I would be happy for him to go into a title fight. Especially since there isnt a clear number 1 contender either

I'm not mad about it and I'd watch the **** outta it. Just imagine if he fought Poirier and beat him then how much hype it has
