Players are adhering to the Keilor line playing for the jumper …
Yep i think the disappointing thing is Keilor are no different to deer park or they are worse, deer park were never caught and I'd bet deer park if they get caught will get hammered by the edfl

A large group of presidents of clubs got together last year and voted overwhelmingly to either raise the cap or do away with it altogether. What will happen to Keilors sanctions if either of these two options are undertaken

bonus payments or inducements to keep players the following year but paid in the same year. Keilor believed it should have applied to 2024, not 2023.
Genuine question :So if Keilor believed the 45K over was part of the 2024 Cap, does that mean 2024's books read as only 65K in player payments to balance it out?...I don't understand that line of thought

The EDFL essentially let Keilor walk away from all this with the line of thinking that it was only a clerical error, i dont think there's any point of trying to make sense of it. Of course they were over the cap last year.

We are in the Lance Armstrong Era of local footy currently, Keilor knows it was over the cap, so does the league, so does every other club around them, because they all are too. The cap continues to get lowered but players still expect the same remuneration.

Here was a premium chance to enforce the rules they all agreed to put it in place but instead they chose to keep the status quo.

Too hard.

Farcical.

Yes exactly. Had a great opportunity to put the foot down and make a statement they won’t stand for it and other clubs would have taken notice. But being Keilor they did what we expected and that was basically nothing. Absolute joke.

I believe a loss of say 16 match points (minus 4 games) and a points reduction of say 8 would have been a start plus senior coach gets suspended for 4 games. Now that would have created some noise and made a statement.
Keilor could still make finals and be fine with reduced points plus it would have made statement to senior coaches in footy..

Exactly especially when other clubs in the state have copped worse for the next year playing

Keilor still saying we did nothing wrong it was just a admin error if that's the case why did they take the flag of you and also how come they didn't take the flag of keilor for the breach in 2022 even it's a dollar over still bloody cheating

How could you understand? It hasn’t been explained. A club has been stripped of a premiership and the league has made no attempt to explain why.

A premiership isn’t being stripped because of a “timing” or “clerical” error that gave them no advantage.

Spin, spin, bullshit, spin.

If you’re looking for a statement / deterrent for other clubs, then you can’t punish the coach. MM is a big name and people want to cut him down but it’s generally not the role of coaches to do playing contracts.

Coaches don’t have responsibility and it’s not up to them to be learning details of every player contract.

Have I read this story correctly?

In a nutshell it seems the evidence has been freely handed over, and judge/jury have assessed and deliberated on what may actually have been a simple $45k typo or clerical mistake by a volunteer.
As a result an approximate $50 deduction per player per week is deemed noble, and the retention of player points and no ladder restraints the fair and logical outcome handed down by the folk who oversaw the process.

With practice games occurring, and Kayo once again buffering what will be the next big talking point in a week's time?
