Nice result. Great to hear no serious injuries. Less than 3 weeks till the real stuff starts.
Can't underestimate how much of a difference replacing players who played 15+ games in 2024 (Murphy, Jones, Cook) with players like ANB, Peatling and Cumming.

Takeaways for me:
Peatling is fast!
Umpiring continues to be shite.
Team defence was good.
Forward pressure was good.
Tackling better than I’ve seen for a while.
Not sure our forward 50 entries have improved but I’ll hold judgement on that.
Our fitness seemed to be pretty good in that last quarter
Forgot: THRILLED that neither Murphy or Jones were selected to play.

What going with Milera, is he fit what is it, didn't hear anything mentioned from what I saw of game.
Cursed the poor bastard. Saw him when he kid kick 7 odd at Elizabeth against Bays one day, he looked gun great in heavy traffic, not just run in straight lines stuff, would thought he easily able step up handle less time space. He didnt exactly show heaps Afl start off with but even after couple injuries always still thought he just had find some self belief away he go. He hasn't had best run at it, bad luck and body has almost failed him.
Fit he's in my starting 7. Ditch Laird, he not part of next flag tilt, Bond in. Along with some strange list decision making and poor drafting Crows too busy trying chase make up numbers in finals instead methodical develop list, appear to be end up doing neither
2nd most disposals he probably won't be dropped if he keeps that up no matter how bad his ball use is.
An opportunity will open up during the season. He just needs to take it. Definitely one of the more unlucky players injury wise.

Hands gold, decision making arguably ok but by foot struggle shoot lights out - other than what appear yet another * love child assume he in for ability to read ball (ball magnet), his contested stuff. If they going persist with him try organise have Hinge running past him for hands
* are we assuming the senior guys are getting some sort reward for not asking to be traded out at start of rebuild? Not sure how all the contracts went down over the years but even if could have front ended some the younger players assume senior guys were still getting highly paid all along??

The fact they're doing that means they want to play him in the seniors, but it might have to be as the sub.
Tex had 10 touches too, so he can’t say anything about possession count.
I feel as though Curtin will struggle to have much of an impact this year while we still have Tex in the side. He just doesn't get a chance to really get involved at all as all our forward entires are directed at the other 3.
Tbh I thought Tex struggled last night. To me he seemed noticeably a step off the pace and his decision making was not as sharp as we are used to with him. I really hope we manage him well this year and rest him regularly. Tex should be the prime candidate to be subbed off often and we shouldn't be taking him on many road trips outside Vic. When he is out of the side Curtin can step up and take his role and should get much more involved.

Interesting , thought tex looked much sharper than last year . Looks less restricted
Bit of overreaction with Curtin on here , he will be fine . People underestimate the conditions too , back the kid in for round 1, coaches should continue to talk him up and give him confidence
Agree with this, all 3 of Peatling, cumming and ANB are huge upgrades on the 3 you mentioned.
Cumming is a really strong mark which will be very beneficial for our transition out of defensive 50.
These guys are only going to get better as they get used to our game plan and learning the rest of the teams strengths and weaknesses.
Tex looked OK fitness wise, but his positioning was not great, got caught going under the ball a few times.
Similar to Sloane in his last year, you can just tell their decision making is just slightly off a reaction time is a fraction off which leads to bring caught out of position or rushing their possession.
He dropped a few he should and normally would have taken, but his positioning was fine
Definitely on the decline and won’t be near his peak
Just thought he was moving less restricted than last year with his body
That left foot goal of cumming reminded me of Seedsman wondering down inside 50 and kicking one
