Very unfair game last night, Pies played Richmond at Princess Park, and the prominently displayed Carlton logo ensured victory for the black and white.

How could it be otherwise? The sight of the watery navy blue, and that risible and dishonoured monogram, fills all true sons of McHale with a cresting tide of victorious energy: it has been this way for decades now.

Our Carlton bunnies are a gift that keep on giving.

Haven't beaten us in a grand final in over 100 years.

Carlton - the bunnies live rent free in your minds. Rather than celebrating watching your team beat a team that will rival Fitzroy in their last year in the AFL, your focus is on blooZ.

Don't get too ahead of yourselves about Richmond... it would be quite funny if the unimaginable happened in Round 1, and if it's going to happen to any team, Carlton are the obvious ones....

I like a tasty bit of rabbit, but my focus was on the injustice done to poor Richmond. Won't you think of the Tigers?

Same was said of us in 2010 and we didn't even "win" the spoon. Plenty of our players out last night. It'll be a rough year undoubtedly but we're in rebuild mode so it's fine. Better to stock up on draft picks and future talent now before the Tassie team pillages the draft in the near future. You'd hate to be approaching the cliff when those concessions hit.

Yep, absolutely. Tigers will be OK, it was only a preseason game and you were blooding the kids so the coach wouldn't be upset.

And you're right that we have a bunch of oldies gearing up for a final tilt so we are more here and now. Hope we have a fun ride to see Sidey and Pendles out, whenever that is.

In the fine spirit of this thread, I’m banking on Richmond pulling off an upset in round 1 as more imaginable that Nicky D netting that elusive contested mark.

Can he be better than Gary Ablett Jr.? That’s who he’s chasing from the modern era. Ablett took 3–4 years to really get going but also played in one of the greatest teams of all time. The Pies, however, have an ageing list, will they still have a strong enough team to compete in big finals 3, 4, 5, or 6 years from now?

Buddy is still number one for me, but I get why a lot of people have Ablett Jr. ahead of him. Personally, I’ve always thought dominating in the midfield is a much easier task than dominating as a key forward in the modern game.

Well, he's already won a premiership with big moments on the biggest day, at a point in his career that GAJ had accomplished almost nothing, and GAJ played a significant portion of his career with an expansion team that was worse than Collingwood will ever be going through a rebuild, so I'm not sure that those should really be setbacks in terms of his estimation.

Devastating game for the Daicos Legacy yesterday. No contested marks and only 32 disposals, eight tackles, six clearances, 11 score involvements and four goal assists while playing in just over a half. Makes you think why he doesnt retire as hes clearly lost it.
