He gets the best out of some (in reality), pretty ordinary footballers.

Matchday - He's useless. Nothing against him personally, but he is a quite pathetic matchday coach. Doesn't make the correct decisions to start with, then refuses to admit he's wrong. Stubborness is the major issue.

We have a number of average players on the list, they've got to go. But whats the bet he punts some of the younger kids and guys like Doughty, Perrie and co. stay on.

Doesn't make the hard calls. Doesn't take risks.

Agreed...TOTALLY USELESS MATCHDAY

I thought the addition of Peter Jonas was going to make a difference in the box but it hasn't.

I'd love to hear what goes on in there. If Craig is to stay they must restructure the decision making process on match-day. Wont win a premiership like this.

Make him assistant coach, or co-coach. He makes stupid moves. I love the guy and what he has done (except for the finals).

But he will not take us to a premiership. I pray to god he proves me wrong

Does not matter who we include or who coaches us

TRADE WEEK WE MUST GET SOME BALLS and make some hard unpopular descions

Sadly, I have to agree that Neil Craig doesn't have what it takes when it comes to coaching finals football. He let himself down badly by playing Roo - who spent only 10 minutes on the ground, effectively a man down for the whole game. He let himself down by the Massie/Franklin; Roughhead/Rutten match-ups and exacerbated it by refusing to change them. Craig needs to do some serious thinking in the off-season, because I truly believe he is a good coach - but to become a great coach, he needs to make some changes to how he approaches game day and big games.

I honestly think we should be well kind of revolutionary when it comes to coaching. Craig, all well and good, put him as a head coach/ manager, leave him there. Overall decisions come down to him. Match day we employ a top quality coach, can be a big name, or somebody with quality experience to control all match day tactics and decisions, it is the only way forward. Too many problems have been cause by his stubborness. Great manager, not such a great coach.

Absolutely, would love to see this scenario, but I can't see that it'll happen in the next few years.

Well I think he should be there next year. Everyone here is talking about Premierships next year, am I the only one thinking that we will only scape into the 8 next year? I think next year should be a development year, I believe Neal Graig is an excellent judge of character of young players and should be there next year.

Yes he made some bad decisions and he was stubborn on match ups. But to be honest, we got outplayed for 2.5 quarters.

This has merit.

We are supposed to be a forward-thinking, experimental club. All the propaganda was that we were cutting edge. In some off-field respects and preparation that may be true but on match-day we are the total OPPOSITE. Shockingly stubborn, inflexible, unimaginative.

I hope the end of season review brings this out but i doubt it or it would have already been improved. Craig must display the same stubborn approach in his self-analysis as he cannot see his blind spots

Were not a premiership chance next year. The problem is Neil Craig wont have a development year, instead he prefers to take the safe option and we will continue to see the same players in the same positions. He doesnt believe in taking a backward step to go forward in the future.

Both have no idea how to develop young talent - see Mattner, Campbell.

Both refuse to make obvious changes and hence concede their original decision may have been the wrong one. Well done Craigy, like Jericho, you really taught Massie a lesson today. Shame about the result.

Match day coaching - You need to get better at that.

Next.

While I agree our magnificent captain shouldn't have played (if it had been any other game) today, he deserved to be in in what might have been his last game. No choice, no brainer.

It was 3 points for goodness sake. We probably won for him in the past couple of weeks to try and get him to the finals anyway, so it was just bad kama what was to be his last game.

Re: Gary Ayres V Neil Craig - Can you spot the differences.

Both are terribly cliched and narrow-minded. It used to be all about the 'process', now it's a 'learning opportunity and we need to get better ... (insert journalists name)'.

Sorry Mark, but this sort of thinking helped lose us the game. Mark Riccuito should not have played today. Perhaps a win could have seen him with two weeks off and ready to play next week. This was a bad mistake because we were a man short ALL day. Against a young team with fresh running legs, this was not a good idea. This was not the only reason we lost, but it was a contributing factor.

I have said this for the better part of this season - we need to play a fully fit team, not go in with underdone, or worse - injured players. Especially in a final we had to win. Roo had had great send offs in Adelaide and Melbourne... today was a debacle. He didn't want to be chaired off the ground, and I frankly am not surprised.

First line of press conference. Blah blah blah...'we need to get better at that'.

'Massie was our best match-up'. How do you know if you don't try. Was Scott bloody Stevens out there????? Obvious match-up. Yes not as good as Franklin but clearly the best suited player overall.

Gary Ayres V Neil Craig - Can you spot the differences?

um....Its not the hair so it must be the core players not firing a shot on the day.

Some were pretty average. McLeod was shutdown, Goodwin was quiet, Edwards tried, Burton was insipid, Massie was bathed, Roo shouldnt have played ( in hindsight) etc etc bloddy etc

But considering the obstacles we've had all year, it was a miracle we made the eight...Youve got to give NC some credit there.

But I say again 3 bloody points. If it was 300 I would say yes.

Re: Gary Ayres V Neil Craig - Can you spot the differences.

At the end of the day is there coach out there that could have done a better job this year given our list (which in reality is average) and the injuries this season. I think the answer is no.

We just need to get better at winning close matches. Compare us to Port in that regard. If you swapped their close wins for our close losses the seasons would be vastly difference.

Neil craig just mentioned he thought Massie was the best match up for Franklin and that his other options mayve been Rutten, Mcgregor and i think he said Stevens or Torney. No mention of Bock. Is he serious. Bocks one of the best centre half backs going around when playing there.

Might as well have been 300. The man SHOULD NOT HAVE played. Don't care if it was his last game. If we had have won, he'd get another crack next week. But we'll never know now will we?
