I thought Rhys put a bit of Mayo on that myselfSoft report. He was playing the ball.
Soft report. He was playing the ball.
In a post-GF interview (it may have been ball magnets) Mitchell talked about being a ‘pr*ck’ (his words) to Neale that day.
Whatever he did, it worked.
We need this bloke if we go deep in September. His job on Neale in the flag was instrumental along with his toughness in the contest. Does all the things that no one notices except his team mates and coaches
We might need him to help get us to the finals though.Yep.
We don’t need a full season out of him.
Just need him to be fit and healthy for end of the year and finals.
He might only have 15 games or so left in him, let’s try and get them when they matter.
i am SO beyond ready to welcome tom mitchell back into the team next seasonbody and strength looking immaculate. will be like a new recruit!![]()

Hopefully it's just a down patch and he come back strong. He deserves 100 games in black and white. This season will be telling... have a feeling his genetics are catching up to him, like his dad's career began to wane.
Some bodies lose their ability to endure AFL intensity quite abruptly and feel that Mitchell may be one, especially given his in and under type style of play, which exacerbates the punishment AFL footy applies on the body.
I hope I am proven wrong though.... I would love to see him, Pendlebury and Steel defy the odds.
Thats not happening. He's not playing another 3-4 full years without injury. I'll be happy if he can play half of the year. Go out with another flag hopefully. Doesn't seem to be someone that will play til he is 36-37Hopefully it's just a down patch and he come back strong. He deserves 100 games in black and white.

Just trade his son in lol Just like we did with mitchell. Easy hahYou are correct.
I'm just a little sad. I would like to see 3 generations of Mitchell's playing for the Pies.
Pendles has defied the odds for years. He’s no longer an elite, high possession midfielder but his presence on field goes beyond that now. Do a little research on the media post 2023 GF. He’s an onfield coach and is still vital to our hopes this yearThis season will be telling... have a feeling his genetics are catching up to him, like his dad's career began to wane.

Hes never had pace. If he gained pace all of a sudden he'd probably start getting tackled. Hell be wily enough to position up without getting caught toó often. Leave the defensive grunt to these young 30yo whipper snappers. Surely he can apply for the aged pension soon to give some cap relief? He's still a class act who is going to regularly release his teammates into space and will be defensively solid around stoppage - how that weighs up with his lack of pace and thus defensive running is the only real issue.

We can be hurt on a turnover big time hey. The backs are sitting ducks if the mids aren't forcing shallow entriesThere's a tipping point of how many you can carry with a lack of pace and the point is shifting to less players as teams get better at opening the opposition up in transition.

The backline were amazing under heavy entries in 2023. Repelling time and time again. The Reef/Dean/Frampton position will be vital. IQ and Bruzzy back fit and the skipper with a clear role and well be right there again with injury luckI think if we have Mitchell, Pendles, Sidey and Lipinski all through the middle of the ground at once, we'll be dangerous offensively, and they'll position beautifully to lock it forward - but if the ball gets out, we'll be really easy to open up and the defenders will be stuffed.
That's my only concern about our team, assuming we have a good run with injury. It's a superb list.
