He was going half paced against essendon and moved to the backline to give kids a go in the middle. I'm not putting any stock in that game. Class player, moving to a full time mid role, selectable as a defender. No brainer even with the bye for me.

if the game goes on(it shouldnt) we get another look at him anyways. Didnt like how much time he was spending in defence

He may go forward at times doesn’t bother me
Class player very good mark will kick a goal or 3 if forward in any case imo
Upside in the fact he’s less likely to be required as a lockdown defender this year with their inclusions a big plus

Great value has been 110+ ave multiple times in past can do it again providing less dummy spits & staying on the park

Saying that we watch round 0 & provided he doesn’t start & or spend too much time forward he’s a lock for me

I wish I had the balls to pick Luke Ryan. Not many defenders can go 130+ for stretches like he can.

Maybe I’m thinking like this cos I bought him in mid year last year.

I'd go Holmes but if you don't want I'd go either Stewart or perryman.

Didn't he have an off-season operation ? .....would it be fair to assume he's being managed back to full fitness ...hence the 50% CBA"s ??

Same. Guess if you start him you take away the risk of missing the hot patch and trading him in.

Dear & Lewis were both tbc return date last time I checked so not expecting them back in short term

While I do think Sicily will have some stints forward I’m expecting (hoping) Battle to be used up forward also at times

Big Chol will play there with the smaller brigade they also have Gunston Weddle & Ramsden as taller options so Sicily will be more horses for courses but all just speculation for now

Short has never averaged 100, no way he does it for the first time this year.

The 'it'll be back there a lot' logic doesn't really bear out.

The top defenders tend to come from teams that win a lot. When their team has control so it's easy to repel the attacks that do come. You don't get points for watching the ball sail over your head through the big sticks.

I have owned Short before, I'm not tempted this year
