Yeah but ... the premier said in his noon press conference that they are supplying sporting clubs with the information so the clubs can make the decision.

They are protecting themselves from being sued by the afl and others.

So AD is playing chicken with the safety of players and fans. Supersized idiot.

First rule of a disaster zone - do not enter a zone that is under imminent threat of a natural disaster. Emergency services and general services will struggle to cope with the people who live there, they don't need people arriving.
I don't understand the over reaction, if its not safe they will call it off, if you are a supporter and need to know, surely you aren't relying on someone else to tell you whether you should travel or not

Lets say for some miracle it changes complete path, everyone will say oh why didn't they wait....they have the time and they will call it off when necessary

I remember in 2009 there was a huge storm forecast to hit Mooloolaba Esplanade where I work on a Saturday night, the sunshine coast council forced business's to close and guess what, no storm, obviously this is different scenario but you get the point i'm making, not to mention last years disaster when the premier gave kids a day off school for a potential flood that turned out to be a slightly cloudy day

I think this looks a lot more definitive and ominous but yeah , I've already decided we're not coming up.

Not going to do my head in looking at forecasts , probably tearing our hair out at the last minute and then working out how to get out.

ignoring potential lawsuits or someone possibly being injured or even worse out of this, even if this game goes ahead, how on earth do they expect anyone to turn up. You're going to play it in a stadium that is 3/4 empty. You're risking lives and the spectacle for this timeslot? Come on. Give it on round 3 and you'll have a full house. Playing this serves no one.

I'm in the same boat.

Obviously legal/network/insurance issues are their prime considerations at present

they aren't going to play it if it happens, they have time to have an even more accurate prediction, they didnt need to make a call yet this morning

Be thankful you still have some hair

I suspect when BoMs short-term forecast has a definitive area of a coast crossing (tomorrow morning hopefully), they'll have data to postpone it

Yeah same. Bumped my flight to Sunday. I have other things to get done on the GC. The idea of flying up Wednesday with winds gusting 40+kts and considerable crosswind wasn't really floating my boat. Plus driving around on the Thursday getting errands done as the cyclone crosses the coast wasn't appealing either.

Well that does everyone a fat lot of good.
Agree
Our game can go to R3 easy enough.
Too late to swap games with Geelong now. That would have to have been done on the weekend.

I was of the opinion the Suns game would be a bigger issue.
The Suns board don't seem to think it will be a problem being on Saturday.
However, there could be way too much surface water in that area, even for a Sunday game.

The Suns and Essendon don't have the same bye.
I think this is the game the AFL would be worried about.

Anyhow the AFL could easily announce a bye 3 round for us and Geelong tonight/tomorrow
Then make a late decision of the Suns game
If the Suns game gets cancelled, both teams get 2 points each or they both have to play 3 games in 14 days later on.
The Suns v Essendon game is the one that should have been moved to Melbourne on Saturday or yesterday,
