lots of disappointed reporters congregated in Brisbane right now, unable to replicate live on TV, Michael Jacksons moonwalk in cyclonic conditions whilst reciting doomsday catastrophic phrases on repeat.

Well after 3 days of panic yes panic I awoke at 3am and no damage to the home here in Tweed Heads.
Still wind gusts and some rain,Power out in a lot of places near me.
So glad no cyclone but we will still get after effects flooding in the area.

What are the conditions like outside?

Still gusty and bits of rain about. Was raining heavier earlier, must have stopped for a bit (windows weren't obstructed with rain spots) but it started spitting again before.

Haven't gone anywhere of note, but going by the websites of various establishments stuff all would have decided to reopen today. Some of the smaller food places (kebabs etc) are open and popular. Funny thing is that a "classy" pub was shut yesterday, but a very scrubby one was still open. Today even the scrubby one is closed.

I'm happy to still survive on the food I already bought to survive the 72 hours they said.

Does anyone

Hows the toilet paper supply?

Actually the accommodation supplies it (every place I've been to does). Been at this one for 8 days, started a new roll this morning :p.

Won't go into specifics but like I said in the travel thread. I thought I'd be eating more here, but I'm literally having 1-2 meals a day.

Never really realised how much time I spend outdoors every day lol

I'd just be playing video games if I was back in Victoria right now. Funnily enough with how often I game, I don't even miss it.

I've enjoyed doing QLD adventures the last few weeks, but I guess the forced indoors time has let me recharge and not sunburn my skin. I'd like to finish things in style, but I'll probably just be low key and buy the tacky Surfers Paradise towels, key rings etc to finish off my time lol.

How far have you ventured pre cyclone? North/south/west ?

Not very

I caught up with a friend that abandoned VIC for QLD in late 2020 and that was just past Brisbane. And pretty much did the theme park run, and otherwise went to look at spots my grand parents used to talk about (investigating other places to stay in future trips). Otherwise its been the same Surfers loop around.

I'm happy plonking myself on the beach, feet in the sand, occasionally dipping in the water etc. Seems weird but that's easily my happy place - peaceful, calm and feel free. Silly thing is I don't go to beaches back home often enough
