My gripe

Everyone was so confident before match due to gws outs...

Why!

Stringer never played for them

Hogan only player of note and green
.Generally teams lify when players like this out as not so predictable
Agree, certainly raised my eyebrows when we went in as favourites with the bookies.
The outs for both teams were on par, Giants looked a level above in fitness and coping with the hot conditions.
We have a lot of work to do...

I see a lot of people saying Lipinski was poor. From watching on the tele I thought he played ok, definitely not in our worst. Was there something in particular he fluffed?
He’s a front runner, the team was abysmal today so his impact was also reduced. He’s definitely not on his own.

Cameron, Perryman, Daicos Jnr and Allan can hold their heads up high. The rest I thought were pretty poor.

Tough day to be a forward, but they missed a lot.

Hopefully the game gives them a good jolt for next week!

Lipinski’s knockers are mostly those who have him as their designated whipping boy

He was ok, not great. Just…ok

I thought Long and Allan were perfectly fine given the circumstances. Not sure why so many are focused on those two

I’d argue the most disappointing player relative to their norm was Darcy Cameron

Dude didn’t even have a real opponent for three quarters of the game and still somehow got obliterated and played really poorly

But realistically? Outside Perryman, the other 22 players ranged from ok to deplorable

What are you talking about? He was our best by a considerable margin.

Oh I'm definitely not watching it now. But that WAS my plan. Before the game 🤣
I had every good intention of catching the replay when I got home from work, but the game itself scuppered that idea. I’m not ruining any more of my weekend ruminating about what could have been but wasn’t this afternoon.

At the game today, our lack of pace was really apparent. It was either a fitness issue or we just need to make sure Sidebottom, Lipinski, Pendles, Perryman can't play through the midfield together. The lack of drive from our midfield was glaring once Naicos couldn't run anymore.

Ned Long as sub is puzzling. And I don't understand why we don't use Crisp more through the center bounces when we're missing JDG and have a lame Naicos.

Ah yes. You didn't go through what we've been through today.

Don't watch it.

What? Cameron was the only player on our team that could take a mark.

Players here in the lounge. Just chatted with Pendles. Reckons he’s never seen so many players suffer with the heat. I wouldn’t count on a similar performance next week.

When you dominate a QTR like we did in the Third and basically not give the opposition a look in - then you need to capitalize.
We didn’t and when the Oppo is a Flag favorite then it’s game over.
Kingsley would have thought at 3/4 time that they’d got out of jail.

No way he’d have been happy with how they were dominated.

Repeating that dominance in any future games gives us a very comfortable margin at 3/4 time, and we win the game.
Maybe it's the fact that we didn't score a goal but I didn't feel like we dominated the qtr despite it being in our forward 50 most of the time. We struggled to get a clean touch in our forward line, they were putting us under so much pressure whenever we had the ball.

Add 5 goals to the margin without DC's efforts.

Really the difference in the game was ball control and basics.
Everything flowed off that.

We fumbled absolutely everything. It was bizarre how bad we were.
Which in turn put us under pressure.
How many times did we get first hands on, only to spill it outside the contest to waiting GWS?
it was insane how often it happened.

Any team that does that is going to get decimated on the outside.

Compound this with constantly missing handballs and kicks and our mids are completely caught offside trying to be aggressive and backing players to hit the target.

It's why we looked so slow defensively.

Remove Membrey contributing 24 points to the final margin and its probably more reflective of the game.....
wow that's maybe as bad a debut as i can remember?
can only get better for here for Tim.

This one ruck concept will be gone by round 4.
Said it before.....what GWS did to us is exactly what i was expecting.
With 1 ruck, we looked impotent ahead of the ball.
We have no height to compete and its a field day for KPD's.

If we're going with the current setup, we literally have to just throw caution to the wind and go.
Anytime we slow it up before taking it inside 50.....its coming back out again.

having said all that, feel like the loss wasn't as bad as it actually looked.

At least we're still in the top 4!

That sounds like a pretty poor excuse

Grand Final of 2023 was played in 29 degree heat. We seemed to deal with that just fine

We’ve just had a pre-season in one of the most consistently hot Summers in a decade

I doubt the heat was a genuine factor

Lucky it wasn't in Adelaide. 36 degrees- reckon we would have been cooked at quarter time.
I’m with you there. It’s been an intense few days heat wise.

McStay was far worse than DC amongst senior, structurally-important players.

Different kind of heat though I imagine. Grand Final day was so dry with no wind.

Sounds like it was hot, windy and humid up there which would suck the life out of you.

I worked up a sweat putting the bins out earlier though so maybe I’m not the best judge.

Totally agree re Crisp. He should have been attending far more centre bounces than Pendles.

“Relative to their norm” seems to be the part that most have ignored/missed

McStay was really poor. No doubt. But given the dude has barely played in two seasons to really know what his “norm” even looks like, combined with his opponent being - you know, the best defender in the comp lol

Cameron’s opponents were…wait for it, Lachie Keefe and some kid that’s played a handful of games.

So again, relative to his normal standard, I thought Darcy Cameron was the most disappointing. To me.
