Did Sheez start a year before he was eligible? Impressive, didn't know that

Every game Sheezel has played so far he was in his teens.

He turned 18 well after the season finished in his draft year.

I wouldn't have thought that was a hard thing to work out but ... well Collingwood I spose.

If the Pies ancient list is truly falling off the cliff in 2025 he'll very quickly find himself in early career Patrick Cripps areas. A one man band that if successfully tagged essentially guaranteed an opposition win week in week out.

I'm not sure Nicky would cope with that sort of weekly bashing and scragging as well as Cripps did for all those years. Cripps always had the fall back of being double the size of most mids and tough as nails so he was able to endure it for the most part.

Someone like Marc Murphy on the other hand who had a similar build and game style to Nicky had his body completely destroyed when that type of treatment came for him.

Wishful thinking. What your describing is what happened last year. We got hit by injuries and Nick had to do it solo - carrying our midfield under a heavy tag most weeks.

He's had an interrupted preseason and he clearly couldn't cope with the workload asked of him yesterday. Might need to play as a mid/forward for a while. Unless yesterday was a one off in terms of his conditioning.

And he looked exhausted from realizing this year will be no different.

I know I'm as bias as they come, but as a genuine question... Do you think Collingwood can cover him not playing 90% of the game on ball? If DeGoey can get back to full fitness it would help significantly, but with OP it's likely to annoy him and prevent his workloads from being too high for a couple of years at least if my experience is anything to go off of.

If Daicos was only able to handle half the game on ball for the first month of the season while he builds his base up would you not expect the Pies to get blown off the park from the middle of the ground?

Perryman, Pendlebury, Allan, Crisp?

Without Nick to me that midfield would get absolutely obliterated by just about any teams starting on ballers.

That starting midfield against Rozee/JHF/Drew 💀

Yep, Callaghan in his 4th season had his first game similar to what Daicos had done in 30 of his first 70 games.
to be fair, Daicos is not physically capable of the game that Callaghan played yesterday - and no shame, 99.9% of AFL footballers are not.

that was the definition of high impact and direct attacking play

Bevo won't tag him the week after and will be missing Bont so he might have some reprieve then.

James Harmes legacy game incoming

But in seriousness I'm very interested to see the pies port game. Pies own port normally especially at the MCG, if Port get up Collingwood might be in trouble.

I'd think West or Garcia would be the most likely to tag after Bedford was successful. Similar types of players athletically.

I think our ability to run and spread is going to be an exposable weakness if Nick isn't ready to play big minutes in the midfield. I think there's the danger of us being a bit like you guys have been for a few years - good players and competitive, but unbalanced and too stagnant with not enough top shelf runners to be at the top of the tree in the modern game of hard running transition. I think we're a bit too reliant on Nick and to a lesser extent Crisp to give us overlapping run. Hopefully Houston will help. If everyone is fit and firing, we'll give it a shot, but there isn't the depth of topline runners for our really good runners to not be running at their best.

This isn't Daicos's fault but the fawning over him by the media is so annoying. Just on SEN today Cornes was saying that Daicos cramping halfway through the 3rd quarter shows he is not fit enough and King was saying "he is the hardest trainer in the AFL, what do you mean he isn't fit enough"

It was like King was desperate to find an excuse for him, but any other player he would have roasted. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Have to agree with King there, Daics doesn't leave anything on the table

But agree with you that generally the fawning has become sickening... Dwayno, BT, half-time specials on the Daics brothers... they even stopped the game for him yesterday because he had cramp [emoji38]

The problem is King stated "he is the hardest trainer in the AFL" like it was simply a fact. I don't know who is the hardest trainer in the AFL and I bet you King does not know either, so stating it is Daicos is just annoying.

They called them "daicai" as both josh and Nick were getting rub downs on the bench during the 3rd term.
Daicai ! Derwayne needs to settle a bit he has a boycrush on the pair and it clearly shows

Agreed - it’s coming for Whispers & he’ll struggle under that physical duress - the whole comp will be targeting him physically.

Surely the greatest can handle that pressure?

On yesterday’s evidence - Whispers isn’t at that level - sadly.

He clearly wasn't physcally prepared to play full time mid in those conditions against that opponent. He had an interrupted preseason with limited running due to plantar fasciitis. Who knows why his body reacted why it did? Was it predictable and bad managment or just an unusual occurrence?

No idea, but King reacting with "It is Daicos, how dare you question his training efforts" felt like something no other player would get the benefit of the doubt with.

Maybe he just needs some … help
