Yeah that's his career done at his age sadly. It shouldn't end this way but poor bloke. He had an injury riddled start and finish and an amazing middle. Sad day.

Very sad day. Though we at least got his body right for a period which meant he could show the footy world his abilities.

A great club man so hopefully we can accommodate a role for him off the field should he choose to not go on.

Mid season draft
Damn it this means we have to tank again for half the season.

Feel so terribly for Linc, would have been a great asset this year but not to be unfortunately.
Hopefully it isn’t the end of his career.

Is LARS totally ruled out these days? He would have been a target back in the early 2010’s given his age.

Remember Rhys Shaw playing a couple of months later, and then winning a flag not long after.

I think the issue is the synthetic graft is a nightmare to extract once (not if) it ruptures.

Pretty sure Nick Malceski had LARS and played again in 3 months.

LARS has fallen out of favour because of case reports where failure of the ACL has resulted in foreign body material (the artificial ligament) accumulating in the knee and then causing sinovitis (inflammation) which leads to early osteoarthritis (degeneration of the bone). There has also been reports of higher risks of failure with LARS given the artificial graft doesn't heal and vascularise like a normal graft. I think LARS has gone through a process where only highly selected cases with specialised surgeons doing LARS for specific athletes -> early success seen -> every man and his dog gets a LARS -> LARS failures go up (partly because of LARS itself, partly because of the technique of the surgeons (lots of new surgeons doing LARS) + partly because the cases weren't carefully selected) -> LARS falls out of favour. I think Linc would be a perfect candidate for LARS if he considered the risks of long term knee injury vs once in a lifetime opportunity to play in an AFL season/win a premiership. He could try for a conventional repair and see if he can heal in time for the final rounds (long shot but possible). He could retire and transition to coaching/other AFL related work whilst rehabing for the year.

I think it was going to be a tall order to get back into the best 22. We are probably going to play Cameron, Lohman and Ah Chee in that position with Bailey, LAshcroft, WAshcroft rotating through. As Neale ages it seems he is also resting forward. I don't think there would be room for Linc unless he pushed one of the main three (Cameron, Lohman or Ah Chee) out and he can't play another role. I think he retires and rehabs the knee whilst doing some work to prepare for his post-AFL career. I wouldn't be surprised if coaching takes his interest.

I believe Neale would be a natural successor to Zorko in the backline.
