Another thing that really hurt us tonight was our inaccuracy vs their apparent inability to miss...

4 behinds and 2 of them were rushed.
It's not hard to kick goals when you have a man out the back or are kicking into an open goal square on the counter attack. A position we seemingly NEVER find ourselves in by comparison.

Also…
TDK best on ground by a mile
Weitering was sensational
Camporeale brilliant first game
Silvagni solid comeback, particularly looked good forward in the last
Saad had a good game
Ollie Hollands was great
Cripps, Cerra, Walsh, Hewett Acres had a crack as usual

I think you can cross Walsh Hewett and Acres off your list of good games, none impacted to the level they should have. Cerra was borderline. Saad was also just bad in my opinion. Rest i concur with.

Imagine being a Richmond kid, under 50 games played and you can push forward and sag off your defender because you know your team mate will win or kill the contest against the outnumbered Carlton numbers. That was what it really came down to. They had the confidence to win the contest, we overcommitted numbers and still fumbled or ****ed up the contest allowing Richmond to turn it over and run all over us. How disgraceful, win a one on one or a two on one for **** sake.

Walsh = 7 kicks, 18 handballs @ 60% efficiency
Cerra = 26 disposals @ 65%
Hewett = 25 disposals @56%

Add in our wings:
Camporeale 20 disposals@50%
Acres 21 disposals @ 52%

Docherty came on and managed 14 disposals @ 50%

Those 6 players across the midfield combined for 130 disposals at roughly 55% with more handballs than kicks in the mix. That's just one more appalling stat

I can’t wait to see which beyond cooked recruit Nick Austin picks up in October, while not touching areas of the ground that we are shit in.

Maybe TDK might be choosing to go to St Kilda not only for the money but because he doesn’t want to play for a club anymore that has been rebuilding for the last 10 years and spent an entire half of football being destroyed from pillar to post against a team that is “worse than * when they had all their players suspended.”, “the worse side this century.” etc.

I have been thinking all summer that on paper our list looks worse than last year. Was hoping that maybe I’ve just lost touch with the modern game and the club knew better than me - nah, we are totally cooked.

Letting Kennedy, Jack Martin and Owies go without a squeak, throwing the kitchen sink at getting an injury prone draftee and bringing in a 32 yo Haynes (seriously the worst debut you’ll ever see - just embarassing). Fking diabolical list management.

This is the beginning of a self-inflicted spiral back to the cellar where we’ve spent so much time over the last 20 plus years it’s actually remarkable. Over reaction, possibly, but the damage these games do to the club hang around like a fart in a space suit. It impacts decisions like TDK re-signing and when we’re trying to recruit quality players to fill gaps. No-one wants to be associated with this crap.

Hawthorn next and they are seriously on their way - if you think this shit was bad, look out for next week if that is the effort we bring to the game.

Really intriguing game from DeKoning, 29 touches but prob well beaten in the ruck. How do you guys read his game?
He's not a great ruck, his strength is in following up on groundballs & getting involved in handball chains from the stoppage.
When it works it can result in some great attacking footy but unfortunately it's a bit all or nothing as it can us up defensive side of the stoppage.

positives:

  • Weiters but needed Young their for support he isn't great but would have been fine against the Tigers
  • Cripps
  • Camporeale tried in first game

The not so positive:
  • Club care more of the individual than team
  • Club care more on Social Issues then Winning Premiership
  • Most of the side very soft mentally
  • Destroying Cripps in Ruck play Lemmy forward Ruck instead
  • We didn't recruit another ready made key tall Defender you can't play Silvagni, Mcgovern and Haynes all their maybe 1
  • E. Hollands not being a professional footballer sorry it the truth a Pro has to be their for the team just like a fighter has to come to the aid of a injured fighter even if that person has issues its a cop out in my opinion
  • Richmond side probably the weakest side this century
  • We are slowly becoming like Fitzroy ended up a Power flag side then after War never won another then folded.

I simply dont get it.

With Voss, surely after losing his job at Brisbane and 10years at Port, he has a drive to succeed

How do you accept a poor coaching panel.

Unless you are a poor judge of talent yourself.

Can't be seen to be the worst coach in the group, especially when you're head coach. Similar mind-set has infiltrated the IT industry in Australia..

How good was that moment when Haynes dropped the mark, and then neither he nor McGovern could perform the basic football act of getting the loose ball over the boundary line that was half a foot away.
Reminds me of the Adelaide game the other year where was it both Kemp and Marchbank? In the last minute we're gripping on a small lead (after being up by 18 or so with a couple to go) and they fluff the mark on the boundary which then leads to Adelaide scoring the lead.

Just got back home from what was the worst loss I've ever experienced. Haven't had a look through the thread so far, but I want to know what our disposal efficiency was for the 2nd half. I've never seen disposal that bad ever.

The lack of clean hands in defence was unbearable. The frustration is raging at the moment and the decision making was deplorable. If you lose, show something that you didn't just hand over victory. But we gave it to them and that is what is so filthy.

Lost and confused. Dumbfounded and mystified. Where are we other than without identity and purpose?
Probably not as bad as being at the 120 point flogging by North at the Dome during the Pagan era. But this was pathetic

It has taken Austin 5 drafts to recruit a KPD ( O'Farrel) when it has been a deficiency since 2020.
He has to go only O'Farrel who would get destroyed with his body still be 2 to 3 seasons ready and Lemmy who maybe good this year to play some time but more forward Ruck.

Mate he is so soft. For someone who is 202cm he plays like he weighs 60 kegs
He makes the lackadaisical Gibbs seem like Superman. He just is not interested. As I said in the game day thread, he should be Hawkins by now, an absolute monster on field. He and his brother just seem to have been very pampered through their footy journey, because they were tall they towered against kids with no physicallity.

Imagine losing to a bunch of children, retreads, and hasbeens.

And one of them does a cartwheel in your face.
Cartwheel was the best part of game guy showed passion for his club. The worse McGovern almost having a bone smiling hand shaking Richmond players this after his poor game. I say too me he seemed happy just getting a match payment .

The closest I can think to this performance is Geelongs start to 2007 before they decided to wake up. Sadly we don't have some of the strong voices in our team who can speak up and shake a lot of our marshmallows to pull their fingers out. None of our leaders are what you'd call Alphas, pretty much latte drinking everything is going to be ok attitude.

I can't fathom how Walsh and Charlie are in the leadership group to be honest. Cripps is a legend but outside of game day he's too nice a bloke. Weitering again great bloke but too much of an introvert as is Charlie. Walsh and Charlie also need to focus on their bodies and game before leading.

For where we are at we need a super strong leadership team to drag us out of this malaise and funk.

The last 24 years has taught me to have a hardened edge on this club. Right now, all I have to say is What a joke and what a bunch of losers.

Single handedly making me not want to watch footy in any capacity. The Carlton post 2000 legacy.

I think Haynes personally lost us this game but others showed no determination when it mattered.

Haynes was diabolical but you’re letting the whole team off too easy. Besides Weitering, Cripps and maybe JSOS, that was a total mental collapse where the players were afraid to play the game and went into their shells just before half time.

Bad bad bad, embarrassing, diabolical, pathetic, heartless, weak, mentally fragile, insipid, disgusting.
There really aren’t enough words that can describe that shit show!

Cannot stand Voss, don’t care what anyone else says or thinks. That man cannot coach. Plain and simple. Get rid of him immediately. And his band of merry assistants that can’t coach either.

Cerra and Walsh are so overrated. They think they’re guns, when in actual fact they’re ineffective amateurs. Get over yourselves and put in the effort and hard work.

To our small forwards. What the f*** do you call that s***!?
Cannot crumb a pack to save their lives. The worst small forwards in the comp by a mile.

Haynes. Wowee. You’re not just cooked, you’re burnt to a crisp. So horrifically bad it beggars belief.

Gov. The comedy king. No wonder your party trick is riding a unicycle, you deliver absolute clown moments every time you play.

Doc. Don’t care you got 14 possessions in 1 qtr. you were wasteful, sloppy and couldn’t convert when it mattered. Panic kick merchant. You’re washed. Stay on as some mentor coach role but playing days are well and truly behind you.

Harry. Scared little boy in a big man’s body. So mentally weak. Folds like origami under the slightest physical or mental pressure. How can a full forward get paid that much and not be able to kick goals. In the real world you get sacked if you can’t do your job you get paid to do.

Young Campo. Disposals were bad. Not much else to say.

TDK. People are mixed on your performance. Some say good some say bad. I’m in the bad camp. Wasteful.
No way you’re demanding the pay people are suggesting.
The kick into our 50 after you got the 50 meter penalty was lazy and wasteful. Sums it up.

SOS. Loved seeing you back out there. The man is all heart. Tries his guts out every game he plays.

Cripps and Weits. Actual guns. Can’t imagine how they feel right now being surrounded by all these frauds who call themselves footballers.

Evans. Who? 3rd club journeyman. Another Voss special port Adelaide love in? Why? What did he actually bring and offer the team? SFA!

Where’s Moir? The guy screams class. And that exactly what we need right now.

That and Mongrel. We are soft. This was typified when Richmond players went after our captain crippa and we did nothing. No retribution nothing. Weak weak weak boys. Not men. Stand up and fight for your leader for your club. Soft underbelly at this club.

Hawthorn will absolutely murder us next week. And I’m all for it. As we need real change at this club. The frauds need to be exposed.
Looks like we’ve doubled down our s*** style and gameplan from last year.

Rant over.
