100%Notice how McGovern has the hardness of butter left out in the sun? Watch him when a ball is overhead. He ducks like a kid at the park when magpies are swooping.
So was captain bloods same page.Tiger71 your tweet was on the 7 coverage at half time.
With the young talent unfortunately there is no place for Lefau.Trainor is looking good too. With balta and gibcus the backline looks more solid. I still think lefau should be on the wing and let the kids in the forward line learn from lynch. Smillie and hotton as well. If we can nail the next draft with a couple more, looking forward to 3 years time.
If we do move up the ladder i imagine there will be a few nervous clubs with high profile players OOC with our salary cap and recent history of success. This will be a very interesting season for us. Expect beltings and expect moments of brilliance like this match. Very proud of the club. I genuinely bought in to the narrative that we will be holding up the ladder this season but looking at it now and the belief that the club has, I don't think we will make 8's (will eat a hat if we do) but we will have a very good season in watching the players develop and maybe making 10th or (god forbids) 9th.
I still probably have Lefau ahead of Bauer as that 2nd / 3rd tallWith the young talent unfortunately there is no place for Lefau.
He is good for depth.
The thing is Lefau is mature age and still looks like a dear in heads lights. Bauer is a more natural player.I still probably have Lefau ahead of Bauer as that 2nd / 3rd tall
But having them both fight it out is only a good thing for each others development
Trip too Samoa worked wonders.Still grinning. What a f***ing night. The best home & away win in our history. Paying over $10 against a traditional rival who consider themselves premiership fancies. Down by 40 odd points early in the game. A 100+ point blowout and no wins for the season looking like a real possibility. To not only contain the margin, but to pull it back and thoroughly outplay them for the rest of the game and grind out a result is an unbelievable effort.
And Sammy f***ing Lalor. Dusty reborn.
No surprise.A couple posters who like to sink the boots in haven’t been sighted have they? Funny that
carlton are going to samoa this weekTrip too Samoa worked wonders.
Imagine if the whole squad went.
That’s trueThe thing is Lefau is mature age and still looks like a dear in heads lights. Bauer is a more natural player.
Then you have Armstrong, faull,Sims and Fawcett.
We won anyway, even without his help.Would've won if Jagganaught was playing.
Fantastic bit of analysis
If you have a spare couple of minutes i highly recommend checking it out
One thing that happened toward the end of the 2nd quarter was that we took KMac out of the centre and put Dow in. Cripps had had about 19 possessions to that stage but was quieter after that. I've never understood how Dow is a good fit in our midfield, but he seemed to make a big difference last night.Let’s be honest - on the stats above we lose that game 9 times out of 10. But it feels so good waking up today knowing that the effort from the whole team was fantastic and they dug in to fight it out.
Congratulations to the team, coaching staff and club. I suspect it’s going to be a tough year with a young list and growing pains, but I couldn’t be more proud of our club in what they did last night.
The most glaring problem in the first 45 minutes was how easily the Blooze could go from one end of the ground to the other without much pressure. If they’d finished their good work the game would have been done by then - the inside 50 stats against were dire. I’ll look at the replay as to why - but from 5 minutes before half time that it all just seemed to stop. I don’t know if it was coaching, young players working out their defensive roles or simply Carlton got arrogant - or all three. Something changed and if it’s coaching and structures I doff my cap to Yze - it was like a switch was flicked.
A lot to look forward to - new recruits, players given more responsibility, and “effort” being the mantra from the coach and players when interviewed last night. Watching a rebuild will be a wild ride - but a helluva lot of fun too.
