Odd how Doogs is everyone's whipping boy when he's playing but our defence is stuffed when he's not
Never been my whipping boy.
We missed him big time when he was out last season and will miss him big time again now.

R. Clark comes to mind
Coaches don't rate him to highly either were happy to move him on if they could end 23 and only gave him a 1 year contract.

At the end of 23 Doogs was offered a 2 year contract but blind turned it on signing day and ticked the 1 year box in error.

Let's be honest that one year contract may have just been the bit of the kick in the pants he needed to play much better last year and drop the weekly brain fades.

What? Oh, I see. There was once a Little Golden Book (a series of children's books for those youger than 100) that was titled, "Nobody wants to play with Smelly Pussy", complete with a picture of a kitten, with stink lines coming from it.

It was the heartbreaking story of an abandoned kitten who'd fallen into a rubbish bin. None of the other kittens would play with it because it smelled. I believe the book is now a highly valuable collectors' item.
Phoebe wrote a song about it.

Raph Clark was never that important, non - key player.
And if people hold their hearts in their hand when Howard is kicking the ball, they wouldn't have survived a Raph Clark game.
Raphael was a ripper guy from all accords though, played suburban footy after he retired ( showing he loved playing footy ) and has done some good work with indigenous youth.

Does anyone think we have a chance against a full strength Crows side ... with all our injuries?

After careful scientific analysis i've come to a conclusion that we have a chance.
The full statistical analysis would suggest that "THEY SUCK BALLS ".

Lesson learnt with Battle going as the Club has really ramped up their efforts to include the family of players more.
But how friendly is Lyon's better half with the WAGs? And has The Danny Frawley centre gotten a creche yet?

But really, I'm glad Doogs finally has his importance recognised. I've been one of his biggest most vocal fans from day 1. Ashamed somewhat to admit it but I've abused our own supporters more times than I care to remember at our games due to their sledging of Howard.

Well this round has so far shown that "Special Sauce" on the day can trump all else.

If our players are fully committed, switched on and disciplined in how we play, then anything can happen, despite our handicaps.

One plus is that it is one of our better midfield groups that we have fielded for a while.

Roma/Boyd in ruck.

Macrae, Steele, Jones, Clark, Garcia, Windy......and at times Sinclair, though I am expecting he will mainly play HB along with Nas.

Plus supported by wingers in Wood, Wilson, Hill and the raw O'Connell.

Jones was handy player when he came back in Round 18 and played differently.

The games so far have also shown that you need to score goals from running players. If we fall back into just roosting the ball into the forward line the result will be ugly. How well our forward half functions is my deepest concern.

Sam's wife and family situation was probably perfect for seducing the Battles.

Its our own fault for recruiting nice kids who make their bed and get married and have kids.
We should have drafted those bad boys who never sleep in their own bed and don't even know if they had kids.

I can't remember specifically when it happened, but doogs went from liability to a pillar in our defence, I think a lot on our board acknowledged that

We got him, we thought he was good, after a while certain people started bitching about him.
We often put up with less than perfect talls, because its harder to find them.

Many times he bit off more than he could chew.
A lot like Jones used to.
They’ve been coached to play to their strengths and not try and be a hero.
Amd both were much improved last season.
As far as I remember anyway.

Just watched last years R24 game again. Jones was everywhere man.
He certainly was but we have pretty good depth in his position now and he’s slightly underdone and also not exactly at the age where we want to be prioritising him over other younger guys

definitely wouldn’t be mad if Zak starts on field because he’s a good player but if it’s ahead of someone like a LOC who has genuine upside, then it doesn’t really align with our strategy
