Can somewhat understand the way they went last night with Harry out but if he comes back next week, it seems pretty logical how to swing our talls.
Play three tall forwards, with Young as the second ruck. Means Charlie and Harry can play as permanent tall targets forward with a sprinkle of TDK.
That’s a bloody hard match up for any defence.
JSOS goes back. Weitering/JSOS/McGovern is a little light on for height but workable.
Kemp and Haynes go back to the seconds.
Yep, they didn't get everything right but by the sounds of things you sure did.The coaching department can defend it all they like. We lost - so maybe that’s an indication they didn’t get everything right?
I did see Voss’ comments.
Do you think what Voss said is a true reflection of his view or do you think he was choosing his words carefully to protect his player from the media spotlight?
Ryan Houlihan ?Wayne Johnston?

FevolaCan remember an elite kick for us?
Who was the last one?
We also need to look at who wasn't available soap. We showed great spirit to come back back when they got 3 plus goals up on a couple of occasions. A few things went against us last night. Motlops poster on review. TDKs first goal which is never called a free and Jsos missed chest mark. I'm frustrated as much as anyone. But I think if we can inject a little more speed into the side things can turn.Bloody Hell
“If you look at the way we defended, we defended hard. [The] tackle rate was up. We defended our 50 really well. Our forward of centres were really strong.
“But we also know we’ve got a little bit of growth to go. So, how do we become that just a little bit more efficient off those plays? We got plenty of looks. There’s no question on the looks. So, we’ve got some marginal growth in there to get after to be able to consistently apply it a bit more often.
“Sometimes just take your moments, don’t make it more complicated"
WTF does all this mean? He has had the side for 3 years!!!!
Like this set-up structurally. But Jsos needs to play forward.Number of ways to setup
Weitering, Young v Naughton, Darcy, Jsos v Kennedy
Gov plays small which I prefer
Harry, Charlie, Moir
Kemp, Haynes out
Young follows Darcy into the ruck

I get forwards have to be more rounded these days but it is ridiculous to suggest Kemp’s only role last night was to tag Sicily.Yep, they didn't get everything right but by the sounds of things you sure did.
It isn't the 1980's anymore, roles have changed

Remember we lost by 20 points to the one of the flag favourites essentially without Harry, Charlie, Elijah, Fantasia, Durdin.
If and it's a big if e can sort out our defensive structure and forward entries we can turn it around quickly.
Harsh imo Soap. Thought after that first contest he fought back well.I don't want to see Young in Navy Blue again
That first contest was embarrassing. Should never be tolerated
Who is … basically all tagging cotrell , fogs , kemp , doc when forward … shites me , I always say we have too many defensive forwards …last night I was with a Hawks mate and he goes your forward line is pathetic and I laughed at who hawks defenders were , they had Sicily , battle , barass , impey , weddle and jiath and we have these scrubs all being defensive forwards .. pathetic … Voss needs to change it upYoung is not a real forward threat
Well said Monty. We need goalkicking offensive talented forwards who can limit but also make the opposition accountable.Who is … basically all tagging cotrell , fogs , kemp , doc when forward … shites me , I always say we have too many defensive forwards …last night I was with a Hawks mate and he goes your forward line is pathetic and I laughed at who hawks defenders were , they had Sicily , battle , barass , impey , weddle and jiath and we have these scrubs all being defensive forwards .. pathetic … Voss needs to change it up
It's like blaming an F1 driver for driving badly in a poor car. Hard to tell. For rookies it's even harder
Until he gets into a very good car it is almost impossible to assess how good he really is
I struggle to truly assess many of our players because the way we play makes it nearly impossible to be very good

Pretty sure it was Clarkson who said things are never as good as they seem, nor are they as bad as they seem. Can I just throw up this little glimmer of hope and believe it’s a very faint glimmer - given we got reamed on the TDK long goal decision, the Motlop goal decision and we probably should have kicked perhaps two of the three shots on goals in the third quarter and Charlie played pretty badly - we only lost by 20 points - are things really so bad?![]()
Yeah I literally just watched this.Voss’ raw address clip up on blues website is as cringe as his presser.
Was that just after he king hit Ian Aitken and saw the Dominator advancing rapidly for vengeance?Pretty sure it was Clarkson who said things are never as good as they seem, nor are they as bad as they seem.
You watch Walsh kick..Fair points and I don't disagree BUT I still believe we don't even try to improve certain things.
I don't care how good a player is if they can't look up and hit a target in space they shouldn't be playing. We simply don't look. It seems obvious to most (even opposition coaches) yet Voss doesn't address it
The other key point that was obvious last night is how much the Hawks get in and shephard, screen, create space for teammates and do the simple things well. That is coaching and structure NOT talent
