What do you suggest? Howe on curnow? Who would reef play on?
I don't think it will be so strict matchup-wise. A lot of it would likely be determined by the positioning of the Carlton forwards. Moore will be further up the field, Howe will be deeper. Reef might find himself on Curnow on occasion, but I would hope his role there would be to try and keep him engaged whilst one of our fliers come across to intercept/spoil.

I just personally wouldn't want him as wholly responsible for Curnow

Big task but reckon he takes curnow coming back from injury
He has the pace, physicality and height to match.
He might do okay, but Billy Frampton did a good job on him last year. I recall Billy turning him inside out in a one on one contest on the member's wing in the last quarter. It may have been a fluke, but it looked fantastic.

I do notice they do change opponents from time to time in game. Like Moore was directing him and Reef to change at one point.

I noticed that a bit too. And it didn't seem to have anything to do with (seemingly) logical match-ups, but positions for defensive setup

Praying for something less severe like a pcl/mcl
Yeah, I'll take anything else.
But if its worst case, they should reassure him he can focus on his recovery and not worry about his contract. They saw him in their best side, they aren't gonna abandon him now.

Terrible fir the kid… and hurts pies defensive depth

Murphy did a knee at one point too iirc… he came back a bigger, better footballer

Here’s hoping reef can too
Can focus on getting stronger and better next year. These injuries players take a lot from it mentally. He has others that has done the same thing to lean on. Mcstay. HH.
Did murphy do his knee? I don't recall.

They can do an ACL test in the changeroom and know if its gone or not.

Don't think there's ever been a "suspected ACL" that turned out to not be one.

Really horrible news and timing, his career can never just get going. Not sure where he goes to from here, perhaps onto the rookie list as he won't have a big 2026 coming back from a reco.

Yeah I reckon the pre scan testing is usually not far off the mark. I’d say rookie listed next year then see from there. Best case scenario is hope it’s a PCL vs an ACL.

"Unfortunately, it looks like Reef might have done an ACL," McRae said post-match.

"We won't know officially until tomorrow morning, but it's devastating for the young man and his family and all of us. We put a lot of trust and hope in Reef that it was going to be a good season for him, but we'll find out tomorrow."

Hopefully.

Imagine the mental anguish. How he got injured was actually how the Pies need Reef to play like. Basically strong at the ball with players around him... just severely unlucky he landed awkwardly.

Can't have someone who is just starting out his career be discarded after suffering a bad injury. Pies need to sign him up again, perhaps as a rookie and try again next year.

Last week's clash between Bulldogs and Roos where we all saw someone's knee bend sideways unnaturally and then be announced as just a sore knee was a relief... very surprising it wasn't an ACL.

Last night Reef's right knee twisting ever slightly but landing awkwardly.... looked bad and as feared... ACL..

Knees aren't simply meant to rotate anymore than a few millimetres and certainly not meant to be pulled or compressed at a rotated position...

Whomever invents an accessory for athletes that prevent knee rotations or sideways bends but allow enough movement will make a killing money wise. If I was a physio I would be on this venture.
