Assuming no injuries and Graham is OK

In: J.Williams, Graham
Out: Long, Petruccelle

Backs: Edwards, Gov, Ginbey, Hough, Maric, Cole, Duggan
Mids: Kelly, Reid, Baker, Graham, Hunt, Dewar
Rucks: Williamses
Forwards: Allen, Reid, Ryan, Cripps, Owies, Brockman, Hewett
Sub: Hall
Emergencies: Petruccelle (held over), Flynn, Long

Williams in to provide an extra marking target and some backup in the ruck. I assume Waterman won't be back. Long dropped back to the WAFL to find some touch, he's been pretty invisible so far.

Graham back into the 22 for Hall, who performed well enough to stay in the side as sub. Petch drops out despite that good goal.

Couldn't find a spot for Allan to debut unfortunately. I'm sure there'll be some surprise injuries that will open the door.

Billiams keeps the ruck spot, assuming it was just cramp.

Yeah I don't know about dropping Maric but I agree he looked a bit rattled at times, a lot of snappy kicks to no one and pther times floating around day dreaming.

He's building into it.

Getting plenty of it which is a good sign

You don't bandage cramp. That was a corky at best. Or another hammy

Was limping around behind the play 10-15min before he was ruled out. Wasn't sure if it was just cramp or not. He might have even been rubbing his hammy because I thought that's what it was at the time

In: Waterman, J Williams, Rawlinson, Allan
Out: Allen [inj] A Reid [managed] Long, Hunt

No idea who'll be available and who'll be missing from injury so will just leave it at that for now.

I am a big fan of Long but we seem to be playing him as an extra mid. I feel Gross would be better suited to that role

Far out people still going for Tom Cole?

This isn’t Facebook Nuffie land guys, come on.

Absolutely no hurry on Bo Allan, he did very little in the pre-season games to suggest he is a walk up starter when fit at this stage, so give him time to earn his spot in the WAFL.

Long has to be in strife, Archer Reid remains out of his depth and potentially lame, so probably comes out.

Would make sense to give Archer a rest after 2 big weeks.

Handy to have a backup ruckman who can step in any time in the case Bailey isnt quite right, its only Jackson rucking for Freo next week by himself anyway, BW or Flynn doesnt matter we wont get smashed in there.
If Freo bring back Reidy to help Jackson then all the better for us

Out: Long, Petch
In: Graham, Allan (to sub)

Gross unlucky not to be picked. Archer lucky to survive but probably gets a rest after this game

Availability is going to drive selection this week. Physical game in testing conditions and a long flight home isn’t particularly conducive to an ideal recovery.

Graham (likely) and Waterman (less likely) would both be inclusions if they’re passed fit

Billiams I hope was just severe cramp but the bandaging suggests something more so unfortunately he’d be in some doubt. Archer Reid might struggle to get up as well - can’t imagine sitting on a plane for 5 hours with a cramp is much fun when you’re 204cm tall

For now, I’ll assume Graham comes back but not Waterman and there are no injuries, as unlikely as that probably is

Backs - McGovern, Edwards, Maric, Ginbey, Hough, Allan, Cole

Ruck - Billiams with support from Jilliams

Mids - Kelly, Reid, Baker, Graham, Duggan, Hunt, Dewar

Forwards - Allen, Shanahan, Ryan, Cripps, Owies, Brockman

Sub - Hewett

In: Allan, Jilliams, Graham, Shanahan
Out: Long, AReid, Hall, Petruccelle

Williams for Reid is mainly due to my belief Archer might need a rest but if he recovers fully then no issue with him staying in the side

We rolled the dice replacing Waterman with a small which worked early but ultimately exposed us for a lack of height up forward (two talls going down with cramp didn’t help to be fair). So assuming Snake needs another week then bring in Shanahan as another marking target fresh from 3 goals against Peel. Long makes way as the most ineffective of our small forward group

Graham comes back in for an unlucky Hall who had a more than decent game. If Fridge doesn’t get over his hip injury then Hall stays in

Final change is due to my wanting to get Bo Allan in the side. With Baker moving to midfield, which I liked, it opens up a defensive rotation. Petruccelle makes way for the debutant

Hewett I’ve moved to sub to give him a chance to come into the game when players are fatigued and assist him finding his touch given he’s got a bit of rust to shake off still

Gross and Hall the two most deserving to come in if there’s an as yet undisclosed injury. Johnston maybe as well but not playing this weekend as the traveller works against him

We’re going to need 3 genuine KPDs against Freo so that probably means Shanahan or Brock to come in as defenders.
Or do we trust Maric+Ginbey?
I reckon we will try Maric + Ginbey if I had to put money on it

I dont think we will want to mess with the structure, and we'd lose run from defence

I didn't realise Maric got that much of the ball, thats a positive but needs to use it better, he usually does that. Long hasn't done anything now for two games.

In: Allan, Waterman

Out: Long (omit) Reid (omit/unlucky)

To clarify. The discussion was about dropping Cole. I suggested Petro should be dropped before Cole but that that would not be like for like.
I meant Cole for Allan would be like for like, just like the forward changes.
Edited my post for you to be more clear lol. :D

Yep agree. Much preferred seeing us adapt to being too small than to being too tall, and Freo if they get hold of our backline will do so through their smalls IMO.

Ginbey can play tall like Hurn used to and wouldn't be conceding that much weight to Amiss - think that's actually a good matchup considering he's less of a gorilla and more a smooth mover that Ginbey would have the pace to catch up with.

HEdwards sitting on Treacy, keep it simple.

Gov to play on their least dangerous tall, if they bring in Reidy he'll monster him. Should Jackson play forward I'd also consider Ginbey on him, Jackson's pace and mobility scare me vs a HEdwards or Gov and if Ginbey can tangle him up Gov/Maric should be able to third man up him.
