So is current FOG his ceiling?
Do we think he has another level or is this it?

Nah I can’t see it, he’s a damn good 2nd foil to RT but he’s still a 2nd foil. Already 25, tooI think he has a year where he kicks 70+ in him.
Keeps it up could well be this one ....

He’ll hit 50 a couple of times, you’d think
Was arguably the #1 for the majority of the year last season, to be fairKeep in mind he's always been (at best) second foil, and has never played in a good team.
Has been able to kick 30 and 40 in shithouse sides as a second foil ...
Good question. So is current FOG his ceiling?

I thought he could become like Degoey or Petracca early on, but I'm not sure he has that ceiling.Good question.
The R19 Essendon game last year is the benchmark for me. Clinical finishing with manic physical pressure and superb quality at ground level. It was the best game of his career and if he can replicate that sort of stuff – especially at ground level to prevent opposition D50 exits – his ceiling is AA-quality.
The best part, is on the whole, they are not selfish. They normally give it off to a player in a better position. The current forward dynamic suits Fog to a tee. He can play deep or he can roam out from CHF, but he has Thilthorpe as that foil to take some heat away from him and it allows him to be so damaging. Tex also seems to really be enjoying it as he is roaming up the ground getting marks and hitting targets inside 50 with that elite kick he has. As long as all can stay healthy, these forwards are going to thrive like we have not see in a long time (2023 included)
Its the maturity in his game that will allow him to become more like Tex as time goes on. He does not quite have the pure presence of Tex but if he can really become smart like Tex has in terms of positioning and using his strength aligned with his elite kicking, its going to be a seamless transition.I thought he could become like Degoey or Petracca early on, but I'm not sure he has that ceiling.
I don't think the club has any intention of trying him in the midfield.
This Fog is still a very good forward who will take over from Tex well.
I think he has the talent to tear a game apart, but not sure if he realises it.
He has Texs leading patterns almost, but Tex seems to have a bigger tank and looks more bouncy than Fog, if you know what I mean. Its the maturity in his game that will allow him to become more like Tex as time goes on. Fogarty's a fair bit stockier, don't underestimate the effects of that extra few kilos on aerobic capacity. But yeah, will be interesting to see the tweaks we make after Tex retires. He has Texs leading patterns almost, but Tex seems to have a bigger tank and looks more bouncy than Fog, if you know what I mean.
Tex is a great player for him to model his game after and learn from.
How can anyone not like the fog, he’s got the swagger, but not the fig jam swagger, just the **** I’m good but don’t ask me because I won’t tell you, I’ll show you swagger. He’s gonna give the top 10 for goals a shake this season (goals 3rd to last column)

How’s the accuracy
Talls don't generally start peaking until now.Nah I can’t see it, he’s a damn good 2nd foil to RT but he’s still a 2nd foil. Already 25, too

Fogarty needs to get serious about the stockiness and how that might affect his movement late in his career.Fogarty's a fair bit stockier, don't underestimate the effects of that extra few kilos on aerobic capacity. But yeah, will be interesting to see the tweaks we make after Tex retires.
I think most would be happy finishing at age 34/35Fogarty needs to get serious about the stockiness and how that might affect his movement late in his career.
If I think of someone like Hawkins who Fog plays a little bit like, as soon as Hawkins lost mobility he was finished.
Yes - I'm suggesting at his size currently that might be challenging.I think most would be happy finishing at age 34/35

Hawkins was 198cms tall, so got alot of his goals and marks through sheer size. Fog is more mobile than Tom, and able to move up the ground and be a connector. Hawkins was rarely seen outside the forward 50, from what I remember anyway.Fogarty needs to get serious about the stockiness and how that might affect his movement late in his career.

It's reminiscent of 2017. Thilthorpe is an upgrade on Jenkins, Curtin probably doesn't have Lynch's tank, but can still play that sort of role between mid and forward, Fog is probably playing 2017 Tex kind of role and Tex is now a supporting player rather than focal point... seems disrespectful to compare him to McGovern, but you get the general gist, anywayThe current forward dynamic suits Fog to a tee.
