How many from your team can walk in to any best 23

Who is Pendlebury pushing out from the Lions or GWS?
I've already said Levi Ashcroft at the Lions. Add young Fletcher. Or he replaces McKenna or Answerth and plays a half back role.

GWS - O'Halloran, Coniglio, Stone, Ward or Wehr from their round 1 team.

Any other teams you would like to question?

Sidebottom
Daicos brothers
Cameron
Elliott
Houston
Crisp
Cameron is not getting a game ahead of:
Xerri
TDK
Gawn
Jackson or Darcy

Would Elliott play at the Crows? A bit stiff of a measuring stick I suppose

Pretty fair list IMO - Moore whilst not at his best would still be unbelievable as a 3rd defender in most teams, many teams have two great defenders what teams have three? He's quick as well

For us:
  • Charlie
  • Cripps
  • Walsh
  • Weitering
  • TDK* (Can he play alongside another good ruck as a ruck relief in the forward line? I don't know)
I think that's it, McKay would play in most teams but does he play for Adelaide? Fremantle? WBD? Eagles? I don't think he plays for any of them. Any team with two gun tall forwards he doesn't have a place in, far removed from Coleman medal winning McKay unfortunately.

How about one of the Pies best in a narrow victory 4 days ago?
Jack Darling had a career best game late last year after being dropped. I don't think anyone would've suggested he walked into every club's best 23 after that.

All those players provide considerably more run and spread than Pendles. He'd be an anchor for both teams in terms of poor pressure and weak defensive ability these days. Doubt he'd be a consistent player for any of them.

A lot of speculation about which players would walk into any team.
Not surprising really when the basis of the thread is on what nuffie Lewis thinks. Pure speculation.

Yeah I was looking at the Lions list he put up and Levi is the closest but he's playing wing and providing a heap of run. Pendles cant do that. No chance on Fletcher again he is a major part of our run and speed. Answerth is playing lockdown small back - Im not putting Pendles on any small forward. Would get murdered.

McKenna as sub actually might be the closest. Bringing Pendles on as sub could work but he is too similar to a lot of slower older mids. Doesnt work in the modern game and we have too many playing that role already that cant get a game. And to be honest as one of the older more experienced lists we dont need his experience.

To win a one off game maybe yeah he'd be up there. But to be honest I wouldnt see him in our best 23 at all. He'd have to push out Neale, Dunkley, McCluggage or Will Ashcroft and I dont see that as viable

Dawson
Rankine
Tilthorpe is a good full forward and back up ruck.

Fogarty is underrated. Good 2nd talk as a chf or a 3rd tall in a forward flank.

Give him 2 shots a game over 22 games. Likely to kick 33 goals and 11 behinds.

Nor would I.

But Jack Darling is not Scott Pendlebury (who also finished 6th in his club best and fairest despite missing a batch of games).

I'm not actually sure we would have many

Sicily and Moore are definites in the best 18 and potentially D'Ambrosio on a wing and one of Newcombe or Day in the middle while the other is on the bench.

Our strength is more in depth than anything else
Wizard would start in every team.

No love for Tyrell Dewar? Shame.

I would love him on freos bench or Forward line this week vs your mob
As bzparkes said he needs more runs on the board.
Still a bit unproven and I think is a bit further from every teams best 23, even factoring youth
One to check back with in a couple of months time I reckon

Cool.

Most teams wouldn't take Pendlebury, which is the point of this thread.

Do you think he'd get a gig in every team's 23?

Hearing Lewis state blues only have 5-6 got me thinking about Freo and other teams.

For freo I’m pretty confident
Brayshaw
Serong
Young
Jackson
Treacy
Bolton
Amiss
Pearce
Clark
Ryan
(10)Would make any best 23

The any team bit makes it a tad difficult to make a call.

For example a team already with two gun forwards would mean a Treacy or Jackson don't make the cut.

You named Freo's three tall forwards. Does that mean those three forwatds are better than every other tall forward in the comp and these three would kick them out?

Think the premise of the question is wildly unbalanced just because of how many midfielders teams field, with respects to good players who are inside vs outside midfielders its ludicrous to think that the best 1-2 midfielders from a team couldnt push out the 5th or 6th best at almost every other team to say nothing for those that can play on a flank or the like and pushes that number even higher

Lol, no he wouldn't. He's 37. He fits into Collingwood's gameplan and structure but he absolutely wouldn't in a number of other teams.
Every team in the competition would find a spot in their best 23 for Pendlebury with his skill, experience and leadership.

Meanwhile, others are nominating Tyrell Dewar, and he just 'needs a few more runs on the board...'
