I mean here's a pretty good example:

It doesn't change my confidence levels that he's staying because I never expected him to come out and publicly say "yep I'm staying (don't even worry about offering an extra $50-100k a year to get it over the line)" before re-signing.

If Harley, or Oscar Allen, had been stopped for an interview like that and said something similar I'd be leaning on the side of them leaving, that's all I'm saying. Not sure it "reeks of desperation"

I highly doubt anything he says in a doorstep interview will affect what he ends up getting paid, that's a stretch and a half

I found it strange that it sounded like it's a formality that he's staying just a few days before. I even qualified my statement by saying its weird because Twomey is almost always on point with this stuff

Not only that, but a fuller version of the door stop was released, and he basically talked down the jumper pull meaning anything at all... which is weird because that's what Swans fans were hanging their hats on.

You don't think him publicly saying "yeah I'm staying" would be an awful move while negotiating a bigger contract while he presumably has 2 other big offers in front of him? Lol, c'mon now.

So whats he worth in a trade if he decides to leave and go to the eagles ?
10 years remaining and a gun player on and off the field.

would the eagles be happy to cough up the 2 x 1st rounders they currently hold ?

There's a big gap between "yeah I'm staying" and what he actually said

You can't honestly listen to that and not be slightly more worries than you were before it, lol cmon now

Do we know what the WC offer is? We know Sydney's, but I haven't seen what they've offered him other than it's maybe up to 6 years and over $1m a year

Hey, if reading that deeply into a nothing interview gives you some excitement, you do what you need to do mate.

It would be fair price wise I think we would try and hold the hawks selection if we could

Can't imagine we would accept anything less than 2 good first-rounders if he did leave given what we're offering.

You sound awfully defensive against folks
discussing a Chad Warner interview in a Chad Warner thread

Maybe this thread isn't for you
Defensive? My guy, you're saying this thread might not be for me because I'm not reading too much into the interview.

If you want an echo chamber, maybe this thread isn't for you and you should head back to the Eagles trade thread :$

As a fan, no. Absolutely not.

We need to take our current first off the table the way Adelaide did with Dawson in 2021.

-Hawks first and our F1.
-Oscar Allen Compo pick

The club probably would hand over the 2 firsts we currently have. It would be tolerable if Oscar leaves and it's the Oscar pick and Hawks pick.

If you hold the hawks 1st rounder the surely you are not expecting to get CHAD WARNER for your 1st round pick plus a 2nd or are you thinking your 1st and F1
The difference between our second and hawks wouldn’t be much early days but a top 3/4 pick in this draft is a lot more valuable then last year the premium midfielders are at the front end of the draft and that’s what Sydney will be targeting. It would be fair but the negotiation point will be the secondary pick

As an outside i cant see the hawks 1st rounder being accepted by the swans
they should be demanding your 1st and F1

We are talking about a established gun player thats 23 years old

For a non-FA that they're apparently offering over a million a year over several years for. They're dreaming if they think it would be anything less than what you're suggesting.

I get this, and think we are fair (overly generous) in trades.

But, Dawson was the same age, with similar high level ability (even though it was less known/celebrated than Chad).

I want us to be as ruthless as Crows were with Sydney over Dawson.

That's not likely though.

I'd value our first this year as 3 and F1 at around 6-10. That's well overs and would expect something significant back. Like Swans F1 (P13-18) for that to be even entertained.

I can't think of a player that has been pick 3 + extras since Judd, and he is not Judd.

It is a very big if (despite someone apparently think im celebrating already). But if he decides to go to WC, I reckon Oscar goes as an FA which will give WC 2 likely top 5 picks plus the Hawks 1st, plus 2 2nds and futures.

One of the top 5s plus future 1st (with something coming back) probably gets it done you would think

Dawson also signed a contract that was half of what was on the table for Warner. And it's now agreed that we got reamed in that trade. And the Crows played cheeky buggers, leveraging the fact that seemingly nobody outside of NSW knew what a gun Dawson was. Not even close to comparable.

So you can have two pick 17's then
