Must admit, my interest waned after we traded out of the first round, so haven't really been paying any attention. The surprise (for me) is seeing Sharp and Greeves well down on the list. Last I looked they were the 1-year-out favourites for top pick. Is it generally accepted that they're both dropping in calculations?I did vow off this board a few days ago and while it's been nice to bugger off from the endless calls for sacking everyone in the building for a few days... The 18s season has just started up again and as an avid draft watcher who has desperately called for our list team to draft some pace and foot skills across the park for the last few years, I thought it fitting to continue tradition and just avoid the rest of the toxicity in the other threads.
So while I'm sure everyone would love to discuss the pitfalls of our list team and our lack of draft picks, commitments to NGA and F/S kids etc etc, lets just try and keep this to what it's meant to be. A thread to discuss the best draft prospects this year and hope that by some miracle we end up with some picks to help address some of our needs.
Some notable names
Zeke Uwland - My pick for pick 1.
Cooper Duff-Tytler
Fred Rodriguez
Sam Cumming
Josh Lindsay
Dylan Patterson
Ollie Greeves
Willem Duursma
Liam Hetherton
Dan Annable
Max King
Dyson Sharp
Unfortunately about half of the expected top 20 are tied to other clubs and we have no top pick but as always there's still lot to play out.
For the Blues, a forward half player and some rebound from Defense stand at the top of what I think our priorities should be on top of our NGA and F/S kids,
I'm sure Greeves and Sharp will be high on many boards, the list I posted was just some names in a random order really.Must admit, my interest waned after we traded out of the first round, so haven't really been paying any attention. I assume Uwland is a GC NGA candidate - do you know who else is spoken for on this list?

Big fan of Sharp, will take some rare talent to push him down the order.I'm sure Greeves and Sharp will be high on many boards, the list I posted was just some names in a random order really.
That said I'm not a fan of Sharp who I think is more man child than genuine talent. Greeves looks a far better footballer for mine.
And as many have said across Main board and the Carlton board, I think we all have the understanding that significant change is coming regardless of how the season pans out. I'd expect us to have some picks this year and some names to be given a farewell.
Well if todays anything to go off I'd have Rory Wright rising rapidly. His left peg is the type of thing you can't teach.Big fan of Sharp, will take some rare talent to push him down the order.
I envy your access to kids matches Walshy. Great year to watch with a handful of probable/possible future Blues tied to the club.
Get Noober busy for meWell if todays anything to go off I'd have Rory Wright rising rapidly. His left peg is the type of thing you can't teach.
. Old leftie, and love seeing quality disposal from them. Hope not one sided like too many are though.I agree, I think 2-3 players of note will be moved on and we'll see a refresh of sorts. I'd be happy with 1 first this year and some cheap trades to go with Dean, Ison and Clark. Watching Gresham today he still is just far too small for AFL imo. Doesn't have the athletic gifts Watson does at a similar height that allow him to prosper. Who knows... Maybe we'll be the first team to move their 2027 pick?Get Noober busy for me. Old leftie, and love seeing quality disposal from them. Hope not one sided like too many are though.
Not sure where our picks are coming from, but there should be enough incentive to fabricate some. We don’t need a rebuild like the mob is screaming for, but certainly a corrective refresh is in order.
Good to have you back on board, your insight is much appreciated.I did vow off this board a few days ago and while it's been nice to bugger off from the endless calls for sacking everyone in the building for a few days... I agree but kids aren't the answer either atmGet Noober busy for me. Old leftie, and love seeing quality disposal from them. Hope not one sided like too many are though.

Disagree somewhat on this. The positions we need most are small forwards and runners and connectors. No need for a three or four year body build for classy operators in this area. Also I feel State or even country leagues can be our friends here Sam Davidson or Riley Bice anyone?I agree but kids aren't the answer either atm
Any idea how the kid named Jordan McPherson went for Sandy today? From Sandringham today Rory Wright was a big standout. Loping runner ith a lethal left foot. Played wing and half back and genuinely sliced up the Jets. Isaac Smith like prospect.
Tyson Bradley down back was impressive too as a KPD, intercepted and defended well and seemed to have very neat footskills.
Ricky Theodoropolous played okay as a high energy small forward but his size and read of the play seemed to lack a touch. Certainly has the speed and skills that could see him excel if he finds himself in better positions more often.
For the Jets, unfortunately wasn't much worthy of a mention. A very one sided affair.
In other games Cooper Duff-Tytler absolutely dominating in the ruck against the Knights and looks every chance to go top 5-10. Moves as well as any young big man.
Hussien El achkar and Hamish Bird fantastic as link up half forwards/mids for Calder.
Tom and Connor Evans were elite off half back for Bendigo and the only two who really overshadowed Cody. Believe both are 19 so would be eligible for the MSD. Tom in particular was fantastic, looked like Lachie Ash out there and was clean all night in a game that was a fairly scrappy affair. Ball use was phenomenal.
Don't think he played, if he did he certainly didn't stand out enough for me to notice.Any idea how the kid named Jordan McPherson went for Sandy today?
Our only pick in the first two rounds is Brisbane's. So probably around 35-40.Likely we have two mid 30 picks this year right?
any early thoughts on who you are tracking in this range?
Im expecting us to have some decent picks this year. Not even a conservative list manager would be content leaving the list how it is end of year with the holes we have. Our only pick in the first two rounds is Brisbane's. So probably around 35-40.
Sure. Just that's our starting point.Im expecting us to have some decent picks this year. Not even a conservative list manager would be content leaving the list how it is end of year with the holes we have.
The imbalance has just become more and more obvious as opposition teams stack outside run and skilled kickers so im expecting some more significant moves to be made.
I wonder if we'll be the first team ever to trade their picks 2 years in advanceSure. Just that's our starting point.
Maybe!I wonder if we'll be the first team ever to trade their picks 2 years in advance![]()
Sorry, Name was wrong I think, last name Knapp I’m pretty sure, all goodDon't think he played, if he did he certainly didn't stand out enough for me to notice.
Always tough to know some of the names of the kids in the early part of the season without commentary, hard to tell who's who until you're familiar with their builds and running styles if they're a fresh face who didn't feature last year.
I need something to keep going this yearWhen you see some of Rory Wrights kicking skill from the weekend you'll be hypothesizing how many blokes we have to trade to get him in.
Josh Lindsay's boot is also sickening but I didn't catch his game today unfortunately.
We traded away our first two picks, so this research is more for Hawks than the Blues.I did vow off this board a few days ago and while it's been nice to bugger off from the endless calls for sacking everyone in the building for a few days...
