Wonder if we see Stevens get a run in the AFL after he has been our best VFL mid for 2 weeks now, and give Clark a week off.
Nah.. stevens needs more VFL performances like he's been doing. Inside stuff is good from him but Bullants aint an AFL side or even close to it... I like George and think he's got potential to be an inside Mid but he needs way more time.

He just seemed so much more confident in his 1v1s with Charlie.

It doesn't hurt that Cameron isn't what he was back in 2017/18, but all the same, it's a great experience for Oisin.

Seriously, it's like Neale at CHF - at some point, you back in the talent, and cop the fact that they will have some bad games throughout the year.
Agree - and hes in a effing moon boot now - but people were baking him for not getting to contests etc after the ankle injury...

The level of unreasonableness and blatent ( IMO) stupidity sometimes is unreal.

Mullin was an unexpected leap in output. Almost as if someone told him to back his attributes and have a crack, because the worst he can do is go back to being a seriously good GAA player.

re Neale and the turnovers on the wing: every now and then the coaching staff just get it wrong imo. It just happens to be against Brisbane twice in a handful of games.

The Neale-Henry-Cameron forward set up have played roughly 12 games together. We're going to have a few more messy matches before it's all sorted out.

Having watched both VFL games, the only players who interest me are Mannagh and Retschko. And if there's a spot on the list mid-season, Kreuger has to be given another crack at the big time.

Laughing at people still discussing Neale... Dude is simply not good enough and will never be. Writing has been on the wall for years.
He's a kid. And he can kick. Just needs to work on his body work and marking.
He almost, almost reminds me of buzza when to comes to marking at AFL level.

I did say pre season that if he doesn't start clunking marks he'll end up in the VFL. Was laughed at.

But I'm not throwing the baby out with the bath water at round 3.

Oh well

The fans will get to enjoy what Neale has to offer and watch his continued growth over the next 3+ years

You can continue to be negative about it

I know which of the above sounds like the more enjoyable option

I was more pissed at his inability to hold a mark the week before. The chest mark especially. Neale is not Hawkins and he never will be but he'll be a decent player. Many wanted Hawk's head on a spike at this stage of his career. He was clearly walking wounded against the Lions. He put in the shift he could.

I mean, Clark hardly had top top VFL form before getting a game, ditto Knevitt, ditto Mullin.

Clunking the marks may be an issue but hard to judge based on a wet sloppy brisbane night and an outing at Docklands which seems to have the ability to turn everyone from the visiting sides into a klutz.

Geelong Irish defender Oisin Mullin a silver lining of Cats’ frustrating fortnight after shutting down Charlie Cameron

“I feel like it’s probably one of my most impactful games so far in my career. Just trying to play a bit freer and relax and not overthink things too much, so I just really enjoyed the game and just tried to remain as relaxed as possible.

“I guess the last couple of weeks I’ve been struggling to find the footy a little bit, but I wasn’t really overthinking it.

“I feel like sometimes if you try and force it, you can have more of a negative impact. So just trying to keep doing the simple things, just keep working through things with the coaches and the players around me and just trying and keep building every week.”

Maybe next time we'll send Mullin straight to Higgins, rather then the mis-match of Henry on him 😎

I'm overseas and wasn't able to watch the game. But can someone explain why SDK was subbed out? It says tactical sub, but if Neale was injured (and apparently now in a moonboot) why didn't they sub him instead?

Took an arrow to the knee.

(PS - SDK was injured in a contest before 3qt)

The above (Neale) really bothers me, because the K Rock call picked up on it really early and repeated, to the point of ad nauseum, that he was hampered. About halfway through the second quarter they predicted that Harris Andrews "will just sag off him all night" and it pretty much happened that way.

We were top-heavy in the conditions anyway. And now it looks like he really was hurt.

I know they're the pros, but sometimes the club stuffs up.
Neale was not competitive after rolling his ankle. He couldn't jump or hold his ground. He should have come off for Knevitt at half time. Knevitt is 193cm and quickish, would have worried Brisbane's slow tall forwards. Andrews and Payne were taking uncontested marks for the whole of second half. Chris Scott in all his wisdom chose to ignore the obvious.

Id be more then happy to get away with Cameron as the CHF and Ollie Henry and Dangerfield as our main Forwards inside 50..
We just need Henry to pull his finger out of his arse and start playing to his capacity. His past 2 weeks has been really poor..
Add Mannagh into that forward line id be happy...
OHenry has the lazy gene. I'm not sure he'll ever overcome that.
