Will be interesting to see if Rowell/Anderson’s literal league-best form is sustainable. Either way, it’s a scary group to come up against. I hope Peatling is used in there more this week

Only area I’m confident we have them covered is our fwds vs their defenders
I swear ... that avatar ... it's like the little bait-ey thing that an anglerfish uses.

Wouldn’t get too fascinated with stats re guys that play on the wing

Sometimes you get used all day and sometimes you don’t

If he stopped covering back into defence and providing outlet option offensively and in general not competing then he’d be dropped

Certainly not after one quiet game stats wise after 2 handy ones
Interesting hearing Adam Simpson the other day talking about the position of the “red wing”.
No one wanted to play it except Chris mastern (I think he said it was), because that was basically ticket into the team.
But his role was basically be where the ball was not, but to hold the shape.

Did that make masten someone’s ‘wingman’

Sorry , it’s a day of iceman memories

A shape…keeper?

I'll bite; what does that mean, please?
I was surprised, I thought he was going to say he wanted him to be an option on the other wing.
But he literally said he didn’t want him where the ball was.

Edit: Heard another snippet of this this morning and he literally said his role was to run to the boundary to create space to allow the halfbacks to come through.

I think its right, we will know where we stand after the next 4 games, when we play Suns, Cats, Giants and Freo.

It will show a lot more accurately where we stand. A team that looks to make the 8, a prelim and semi final team of 2025 that should have beaten the Lions in those finals and team that just missed the 8.

So far we have only beaten 3 bottom 8 Clubs in 2024.

Were a bottom 4 club from 2024.... I get your point and more data is more evidence. I think its the way were winning which isn't being taken seriously yet.

I got the chance to watch a game from last year against Melbourne and my god it was infuriating to watch us stand there and switch the ball then bomb the ball to nobody.

Sounds like Nank
I was trying hard to hear that - or Dowling or Taylor - but the emphasis on experience gave me pause!!

Fingers crossed.

He did say some of the SANFL players are playing the best footy of their careers and haven't been able to break into the AFL team ... if I blur my ears I can still imagine him talking about the "M" word

I'm wondering was it actually Peatling who moved into Rash's role when he came off? and had a good game doing it? and then someone like Berry be the one coming in? He seemed a lot more relaxed in that interview than normal, hoping he's got a trick up his sleeve, like a heap of CBAs for Curtin or something.

I think Draper effectively replaced Rachele.

Played 64% forward half, low posession game with two goals.

Only attended 1 CBA as well.

The Essendon game Draper attended 13 CBAs, coming on late as sub. With a closer to 50/50 split across the field.

I am hoping this week Draper starts in the 22 and part of the midfield/CBA rotation.

Draper I think became the replacement up forward.
Peatling was already playing some time forward.
