Not sure why anyone is surprised. The players are who they are. They are no good.
Stamos SkyhorseTamer the errors the players make are catastrophic. No game plan A, B or C can compensate for the skills errors the players make. I’m sure they are all very talented, far more so than any of us, but for whatever reason they cannot execute the skills required (which is pretty basic stuff) under pressure. I’m also sure that they can do it at training, away from the bright lights, so for me it’s a mental thing. 3 coaches, 1 playing group. The jury is in.

He should be kept if the coin is right or moved on. We have to stop stacking our list with high paid players and have a team 1st mentality
Like McKay, curnow and cripps who reportedly took lesser offers to stay the course at carlton and build a dynasty?

I love you.❤️

You know that.

Your ability to own time, then control time.

Like it.

Like a Bond movie.

I ain’t riding horsies tonight.

Not even goddamn close.💪😎👍

I'm partial to 1967s You Only Make Finals Twice. But then there is 1983s Never Say Flag Again.

Timothy Dalton in Licence to Butcher the Ball was a good one. Die Another Game Day was underrated.

It’s not one playing group.
There are only 11 players on our list who were coached at all by Bolton, and 4 of them had half a year with him.

Gameplan is well down the list of coaching problems. We’re not well drilled. We don’t do the fundamentals well. And now our confidence is completely shot.

Thought Haynes was OK actually.

Cripps labouring from his glute injury last week.

Walsh better in the first half.

McGovern is just a scatterbrain - almost on the same level as Young with ball in hand.

Motlop - he’s too heavy - zero speed.

Cerra was OK today.
Don’t see it either, though he did record the top speed on the ground according to afl tracker.

I thought it was very interesting how Weitering unprompted went into bat for Vossy post game.

Also called out our mental and physical roughness

Then tell the truth about certain teammates and get them out of the side until they grow a spine.

SHELL SHOCKED!!!!

Have been sat here in front of TV, with wash up and now replay on Foxtel.

Wanting to comment, rant, support those who had a go, and unload on the passengers. All logic says group is broken by unsustainable messenging etc etc, but struggle to focus long enough.

We have gone from a group firmly in a premiership window to disjointed easy beats. There are plausible explainations/excuses for some things, but no logic for another second half capitulation.

Can’t connect thoughts adequately. Maybe should be posting in Mental Health thread. Good night all.

What Stamos said for one and to extend what he said. the skill errors are from players who've shown and proven for extended periods they don't do that. It is a representation of what's wrong systemically at the club. Due to poor frameworks fundamentals and training. The players are simply the end result of the systems they're in all the time.

I've been coached by guys in 3 different sports that all currently hold professional head coaching gigs. I've coached at high - not tv Pro high - levels. It's painfully painfully obvious.

Just pause any stoppage before and after the ruck tap. Look at the movements of the players. It's all fixable. It's never addressed.

Same with a mark 70m out. Pause and look at the forwards where they line up and their movements. Then pause again direxctly before you get the wide shot go into the close up of the contest. You can see most Carlton players are setting up wrong.

As I said before. You have a goal for consistency. You know players baselines. When you have 6 players playing well and 3 absolutely sold the game you know ok it's a player thing we can fix that by changing how they're used or removing them. If it's the inverse. 6 guys playing shite and 3 ok well that means you've got a systemic issue which is always always always always coaching.

You can't judge players when the systems are so bad. I've played in and coached teams that were written off as being absolute shite had a coach change and won the comp the next year... Well we lost the grand final as a player after going winless the season before. Only the coach changed.... As a coach took a winless team in first division to a premiership and 3 top of the ladder finishes in a row. I don't give a **** how skilless the players look. When it's a coaching issue everyone looks shit.

I think besides all that all you have to hear is the pies happy to call out Carlton in a presser to know our club itself is cooked. Essentially 'we knew we'd make some changes at half and they wouldnt'.

Your rivals laughing at youin the open because your club has no pride no fight and no structure. The players are simply the manifestation of the club and what the footy department fosters.

We are an industry laughing stock.

We play dumb footy.
In the wrap after the game (fox) they were commenting in the pies rooms that we just kicked it back to them. They knew what we would do. Remember Sidebottom laughing at us cos we kept kicking it to Darcy Moore. Not much has changed.
We are utterly predictable.
Worse than that, basic skill errors and obviously poor options compounded the errors.
There needs to be a change of direction as the contested stop/start grind just leaves us battered, sore and defeated.

The list is good enough. The prelim in 2023 and the early-mid season form of 2024 confirms that. They have elite level football in them.

However, in my opinion, the list is psychologically shot. They are mentally incapable of performing under expectations or under pressure. Effectively they are losers, or at least they will never be winners.

When you are told it is okay to lose because you are developing (15-21) or that it is okay to lose because you are playing “your way” (22-current), you will become a loser. When you are overpaid from a young age (Curnow, McKay, Walsh) or overpaid on potential and without runs on the board (Williams, McGovern) you will become lazy and development will stagnate. When you select the side on name value and not actual performance (Motlop, Docherty, Hollands) you will become complacent.

The culture at this club will absolutely destroy even the most talented footballers. It hasn’t got SOS yet, because he understands what it means to play for this club, and it hasn’t got Crippa or Weitering yet, because they are generational freaks, but don’t hold your breath. It’ll get them eventually. The place is shot and Voss is not the answer. It’ll only get worse from here if he stays on. However he is only one of many problems.

26 and still yet to see any success. Won’t be a chance for another 5 years and that’s if they get the next two off-seasons spot on. Quite disappointing considering they embarked on a 66 game rebuild just as I left school. I am now almost a decade into my working career, 10 years of being the laughing stock come Monday.

Probably not going to recover from being top 2 with a buffer in Round 17 2024 to bottom 2 in Round 4 2025 with no light at the end of the tunnel, until they win a flag. Generational trauma.
Someone unplugged the football ability and game plan at half time in that GWS game.

Can someone please plug it back in.

Players not good enough
Coach has no idea
Have a crack for a half but don’t do anything with it
Turnovers
Basic skill errors
Slow
Mentally fragile
Rinse ****en repeat

Collingwood would have been 6 goals plus down at half time if 12 other teams had that much ball in the first half. But we can’t do anything with it.

We peaked in 2023. 10 years since the rebuild started. This is what we have. Another massive rebuild is required. We’ll chase Hawthorn again… and by the time we mature the game will change again.

We’ll lose our next two nothing surer. Voss will be sacked. But nothing will change. Rinse repeat.

Listening to Jon Ralph after the game was pretty damning.
Collingwood insiders apparently told him they knew all they had to do was stack the defensive corridor and we'd just kick it into their hands. But even they were a bit shocked about how easy we made it for them in the 3rd quarter.
This is obvious though. Every team has done it to us in the second half this season without fail, even going as far back as last season.

Zone off and stack the middle, force the long down the line kick to our tall forwards or ruck, who are 9 times out of 10 outnumbered and beaten in the air. There is no dare, no risk, no run and no one working for each other after half time. We have seriously big problems that I'm now starting to doubt can be addressed this season.

Listening to Voss’s press conferences, we don’t even sound like we’re a football club anymore.

Just listen to Voss sounds like we are trying to turn into a dower robot of structure, game plan and being a good bloke/team mate, with no fun or flair (Hawthorn).

Release the shackles FFS.

This sounds weird, listening to Voss (It feels weird, like we’re not even trying to be a football team anymore, like we’re superior)

Voss said “We don’t focus on winning or losing only on the system we want to play”

Don’t hold your breath with changes.

When asked Voss said “We decided, we want to settle the team. The team haven’t played much football together”

Docherty, McGovern, Haynes, Hollands, Motlop, Fogarty & Williams all have free rein of underperforming.

Stamos What evidence do you have Voss doesn’t teach them the fundementals? In last weeks post match presser he was asked about teaching the fundementals and he said that it’s about repetition. They can’t repeat most likely because they can’t apply themselves mentally. When they have applied themselves they have deliveries as is evidenced by the 22 out of 27 wins record from the Gold Coast game in 2023 to the GwaS game in 2024. Execution. Execution. Execution. Ive noted you love blaming the umpires, coaches, rule changes…stop making excuses for the players. They are the reason we are 0-4.
