High pick people want him to succeed. Doesn’t help that he’s been sub for probably 80% of his games played. And a lot wasted being held over emergency.

Also don’t help that Worner with his 4 cat 10 errors a game in a spot we don’t need gets a game over him.
It doesn't matter where he was drafted. That's for people with lack of knowledge to be worried about because they aren't watching him every day in training. The club knows where they drafted him, but they have better knowledge of the player so his draft positions means nothing anymore to them. Draft position normally just means higher potential, but clearly Erasmus doesn't have higher potential than others.

It is what it is.

JOM tagged and beat Heeney bro??? Did you watch the game. He went head to head with one of the best mids in the game and won.
So we have a 31 year old tagging.
Is that what this team is about.

It just doesn’t fill me with optimism. I just hope it’s JOM getting dropped for Young and this team can move forward.
Brodie and Erasmus with Young for Peel excites me more then seeing JOM Serong Brayshaw.

Said for nearly 3 years now that getting JOM has changed the trajectory of players.
Brodie, Erasmus, Aish too.
A completely unnecessary player, at the twilight of his career, retiring back in WA starting a family. That’s for a rebuilding team or a team needing veterans like North Melbourne.

Each to their own, pessimistic view I guess. He’s done stellar in two losses, guess he deserves a spot

Two things for Erasmus are simultaneously true - he would benefit from a prolonged run at AFL football, but with JOM having an unexpectedly good start to the year he is also fringe best 23. Even if he had played this week he'd be out next week when Young comes back. It's a difficult one for him and I feel for the bloke because I think there is a good footballer there that needs that final bit of development he'll only get playing regular AFL .

Raz dropped to emergency. Worner retains his spot (potentially as sub). Not a fan of this, and pretty much guarantees that Raz will leave if he gets an offer from someone else
Yep
What absolute joke .
I was already bemused by worner over Aish but this is next level
And agree for ras’s own sake he may aswell leave.
.
I was done with this fraud of a coach already but it’s continued balls up selection decisions like this that just confirm my stance

And while I’m at it wtf is sharp still going in the team ?, he’s either injured or not in either case it’s not like he’s been playing such good football that we need him playing even at 80%
He’s been deplorable.

What’s the message?

Sharp has been poor- safe.
Banfield has been iffy- safe
Fredrick has been iffy-safe.
JOM over 3 seasons have done nothing other then ordinary, apart from being good in two losses this season- Safe.

Such a safe team. No messages.

At least Peel is a good team to watch before Fremantle play.
I mean ok but not really.

Banfield we know for sure is on the edge of selection, this is confirmed. Sharp, yes I wanted him out, but if he has been playing with a sore shin, then fine, understandable.

Freddie is contributing just enough and plays a very specific role that there is no real replacement for, unless Sturt was fit.

JOM is one of our best contributors so far this season.

The message is pretty simple, Erasmus isn't good enough. That's it. It doesn't mean that the other guys are necessarily great either. Worner clearly also on the edge of selection. I can almost guarantee that barring injury, Banfield, Worner, and Voss will be dropped next week for Darcy, Young, and Switta.

So the rage is not really justified given at most Erasmus is losing one game. He was always going out next week. Know one knows why Ras is out ahead of Worner, I don't get it either, but it's not a very important issue either.

You are irrationally angry...

Dropping Ras to play an extra defender, and a pretty average one at that in Worner is just classic JLo team selection.

Ras has been solid. Worner had a few decent defensive efforts but also several horrific kicks. Wtf??

As others have said Ras will ask for a trade at years end and I have zero doubt will become a quality mid at another club.
Your first paragraph is what truly does it for me ,as others have said this fraud would play 18 defenders if he could.

I mean this is the same bloke that laments not defending MORE when we HAVE the ball….

Jom has not been good to start the year

Stats don't tell the full story, bloke was the main culprit in handballing to under pressure players

Or getting the ball and turning back into traffic

If he is getting it 30 times then we are getting caught up wherever that is on the field for atleast half of it, he better have a wing role or something this week

He was also given three coaches votes against the Swans. So either two (or one I guess) AFL coach is being fooled by stats or perhaps, just maybe, when journos etc. say he is playing well, he may actually be playing weel

The problem is that JL was asked in the post-match presser about the young mids, and said:

"Really happy with Johnno's role, is probably one of the guys you're talking about. I thought Johnno handled his role really well on Reid. Driz has had a great pre-season and is coming along and taking his opportunities. Neil's performing well through the middle of the ground. We need those players to be ready to step up when opportunity presents.

We probably think 1 out 1 in and that's the mantra I go with, but it does take a while to get that confidence that you can compete regularly at AFL level. I feel like they've grown week-on-week over the first 3 weeks of the year and played some really good footy today."

It's difficult to reconcile that with dropping him when we're not adding anyone back from injury (apart from the late outs). I think Superkoops probably made the most convincing argument (ie: Banners played well enough that the vest became btwn Worner and Ras). You don't want to give a young guy the vest, and Ras has played fairly poorly when sub. But holdover emergency is even worse than the vest for a young player. So unless we have a few that might not get over the line come Sunday, if Ras is dropped and is holdover, that's a double whammy by JL.

This board melting over Erasmus is so funny to me.

Bloke has been dead set average, and with Jaeger back in the team he's pushed forward again, where he is even more average.

It's like people don't actually watch football and just check stat sheets.

Edit just wanted to add the same people crying about Erasmus would 100% be the same people that were crying about Reidy not getting a game last season because he got a few hit outs in the WAFL 😂
Think it has more to do with picking 8 defenders in the 23.

Well I’ll admit you got me there. But I soon changed my tune after the Geelong debacle.

Could there be some doubt about Sharp as he's named on the interchange - and Worner maybe an additional option on the wing rotation.

Ok boomer

Worner, Sharp, Frederick, Banfield, Wagner.

This only makes sense if we’re not considering positions (although I’d still argue with Frederick and Wagner).

However Raz can’t play any of the positions those blokes play except for maybe Banfield.

People on here really seem to underrate playing an actual position. AFL teams are not made up of the twenty two most talented blokes on the list. It’s not junior footy where you can try out a new position. Positions are specialised things and off the cuff changes are rare (C Simpson being a rare exception it seems).

It’s why guys like Banners and JOM hang around, their skill sets are suited to a few vague positions as opposed to Raz who pretty much just plays inside mid
