Autopsy Round 4, 2025 - Saints upset Port in Adelaide!

That takes our recent record to 8 wins - 2 losses in our last 10 games and 11-5 in our last 16. Maybe a few of our media knockers should take note.

Also I reckon Stocker is on the cusp of being our new Stevie Baker.

Finally, one big plus to RTB is his ability to do his homework on oppo teams. He's been able to orchestrate some unanticipated victories throughout his coaching career. Not all the time but sufficiently to give you hope when a win seems unlikely.

I think when the game was on the line - having a player like Macrae is something we haven't had in years.
A genuine inside A grader who elevates the other players around him. Maybe during Steele's AA years? But this feels different. He still has ALOT of football ahead of him and he's changed our midfield's trajectory for 2025 at least.

True , it’s a more subjective thing in my head.

The last two times we played finals , 09.
Very hard to determine how good our team is and how far we go this year knowing we have players who are only just starting to really show how good they are.
Today we played a team that are no easy beats and we fielded a team stacked with young players due to injury.
How good will we be with Howard in the backline , King as our main spearhead and back,on top of this we still have Phillipou who I'm sure will give us even more improvement and not to mention Steele.
Butler is no slouch but seeing so many kids playing well he will probably find it hard to get a game.
Guys like Hall , Collard , Garcia would be hard done by if they get dropped to make way for him.

We can give it a hell of a crack this year if everyone fires - we can always rely on Marshall , Sinclair , Macrae , Wilkie but it's Owens , Windhager , Sharman , Nas , King who to me really need to perform this year to get us playing finals.

Stocker was great today, he only made one tackle but it was a big game changing one and he was physical when we needed it.

Jones was similar, he does some dumb shit at times but he throws his weight around and crashes in hard, you need those types.
I nearly smashed the TV when he reverted to his old habit of trying to take on too much and was caught htb in the backline, giving up a goal.
Hope they show him that a number of times. If I was Ross I would’ve dragged him immediately.

Leads the most clearances stat with 39, just a sniff under 10 per game. Next best has 31. Got to be the best mature age recruit we've had for years. And just quietly, one H.Garcia (13 games) just outside the top 30 with 19, a sniff under 5 per game. Just quietly going about becoming a quality mid. Not f***** bad for pick 50.

That is an insane number haha. I was high on him coming to us but in 4 games he's blown past any expectations I had. Still looks like an elite mid to me.

I don't think we would have won today or against Geelong without Ross.

I didn't know what why this game would go but beating this team at home shows we are far better than what most people think.

We are only going to get stronger when King comes back in - surely he will produce more than what Keeler has and of course Steele will give us more as well.
What has impressed me is Hammer , he played on there most explosive player today - you can say he got beaten but in all reality he put in a tremendous performance.

Winning these games playing a lot of young guys is only going to make the team confidense go through the roof - kids like Hastie , Collard are going to be very good players.

I must add Macrae has made a hell of a difference - amazing what happens when you win the ball in the middle.
what do you mean "we were all so wrong about collard.

It’s amazing, only a couple of years ago we looked slow and not much depth to the squad . Now we are so much faster with the ball and our disposal it so much better . Also with so many good young players coming through it’s going to be hard to get a spot in the team .
Collard has really stepped up to AFL football speed and skill .
Macrae has been excellent since he came over from the dogs . He is playing so good I don’t know why the dogs got rid of him .
I can’t wait for us to get Pou back in the side , he was just getting the pace of the game when he got injured.
It will be interesting when King and Sharman are both fit and playing together.
I would say this is our best team since 2009 and 2010.
