Who predicted 2 months ago that Athena was going FINALLY get on an AEW show... just to lose her belt after 2+ years for a short-sighted belt collector gimmick?*

It's not even a "gimmick" - you don't build stories out of being a belt collector, it's just ego stroking. Everyone who has ever done it had stupidly big egoes.

(*spoiler alert: it was me)

Just 4 more shows until Dynasty, which will likely be a 9 match card.

I think every title will be on the line bar the trios title which could be defended in the days leading up to Dynasty on TV. Plus we know the Death Riders will infect the Moxley title match, so we don't need to see them twice in one night. A match against The Opps is where I'm leaning.

Likely
(TBS) Mone v Athena or Hart
(Tag) The Hurt Syndicate v O'Reilly/Strong or Hologram/Komander
(TNT) Garcia v Cole

Possible
(6 man) Rated FTR v The Patriarchy

Left Field
(Continental) Okada v Matthews v King v Takeshita

How do I fit these guys into 1 match?
Cassidy, Fletcher, Hobbs, MJF, Page, Ospreay, White.

9 match card 🤮

Feel sorry for any of those in the last couple of spots before the main event.

When you burnt on banger match after match the crowd can get burnt out by the end. 9 seems excessive.

just wanted to post the pic

This match is pretty brutal after everything else we've seen on this show.

I love Jericho. I just need for him to go away for a while so I can miss him. Bandido deserves better than this.

Geez wish they ended the event and had the finish where it looked like it headed. Liked the moment with Hangman on the ropes before Pac came in.

Even though we're close to All In, would have been the perfect time to end it with Swerve.

Can understand having a screwy finish, but Bucks aren't the answer.

AEW and Shitting the bed in the main event. name a more iconic duo.

I have had zero interest in their main belt since Mox won and this MoxWinsLOL run we're going on isn't helping.

Toni was hilarious in the media scrum again. I didn't watch much of the rest of it though, I was so flat after this show. I wouldn't have bought it had it not been the 2nd of a 2-show Triller pack, and I didn't really feel any better about the show having watched it.

Yeah, we saw a couple of good matches, but they're first round tournament matches, they don't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. They should've been on Dynamite.

I watch wrestling cos it's completely unique in its ability to tell stories. But AEW aren't really telling any. They set such a high bar with TOni vs Mariah, and they haven't even tried to replace it with anything.

On the pre-show:
Solid 6 man tag between Cru/Wayne and Top Flight/Fox. Crowd was really behind AR Fox, shame he took the pin.

Lmao Max Caster with the Philly Ben Simmons jersey. Loved that promo. Bowens and Billy Gunn are back! That Bowens theme sounds like a banger. "The Pride of Pro Wrestling" a good nickname too.

On the main card:
Ospreay vs Kevin Knight terrific, Knight very impressive.

MJF still helping The Hurt Syndicate despite them not wanting him around?

Holy shit FTR turned heel on Cope! Legit thought Dax would turn on Cash as well though. Lmao Cash putting on the neck brace and going on the stretcher!

Megan Bayne looked strong despite losing, a lot of cool power moves used.

lol Mark Briscoe putting heat on the ref for removing the chair "Boo this man!". Fletcher's powerbomb to Briscoe on the barricade ouch.

Nice spot from Bandido to hold Jericho up for a whole minute. Hopefully since Bandido won the ROH Title he can be a fighting champ on ROH TV, unlike a lot of the past champs in the Khan era.

Have to admit, Daniel Garcia's TNT reign was pretty boring.

Outstanding International Title 3 way match.

Mad spot from Swerve with the Swervestomp off the ladder through the table on Mox. Looks like Hangman has forgiven Swerve? Why on earth did The Young Bucks help Mox for?

The essence of this post is that "the wrestling show has too much wrestling"... who would've thought a wrestling show not only features wrestling, but actually showcases it. Fn novel idea that...

I get you're worried about the wrestlers, the crowd and viewers, but I'll let you in on a little secret, people who watch AEW PPVs generally know what they're in for. Nine isn't excessive, it's normal. It's the standard. We make the choice to watch with this in mind. Free thought is amazing...

~~~~~~~~~~~~*
Just started watching this at 1030pm AEST... will try and get it done tonight, as for the first time I've managed to stay spoiler free. I don't think I'll be able to do it a second day... and thankfully I have a late start tomorrow!
My assumption is they feel aggrieved at Swerve being termed as an “AEW original”.
Reminds me of the old TNA cards where they'd have heaps of great matches, and then end it with Jeff Jarrett being a chicken shit heel and retaining his title.
One of their worst PPVs in history?
What was with the officiating to? Taking the micky. They took Bandido family word for it that Jericho cheated and re started the match what the hell is that…
Main event was a normal championship match not even a no DQ match, Mox and Swerve were at ringside for an eternity with the ref telling them to get back into the ring , never once did he start a count….
Then you had the commentary team state the ref didn’t see the chair in the ring… he was looking straight at Mox and Shafir with the chair 😂.
Then the run ins from everyone and the bucks finish…. They literally had a wrestlers family get the decision overturned yet they just let all that shit slide in the main event. None of it makes sense, complete and utter mess.
They had an absolute mare last night.
