The hate has extended beyond making that argument tho, it is the same with Murphy. Traditionally port fans rode their fringe players like this and crows fans were a little more civil.
There are two groups and they all like Milera

One group thinks he should have played through the SANFL first - me

Then there is the group that thinks Milera deserves an opportunity due to a bad run with injury and seniority - well thats how I interpret it

This is where the Wayne Goggles are applied

The 1st group - me - see someone contributing somewhat but there are some deficiencies - burst speed and accountability - which lends a negative slant to their posting.

The 2nd group wish and wish Wayne gets up to speed and gives him more leeway - and maybe seeing things that arent there ( just as the 1st group does) - which lends itself to a positive slant

Milera has done all he can but he now has some limitations which expose him. I think we ALL acknowledge that.

I dont think its hate for Wayne but hate for the process and the coaching group

Kolodjashnij is not a KPD, he plays on the flank. Blicavs is back in and neither he or De Koning
are playing as the main ruckman, Stanley is. Sullivan is playing on the flank, but at 198cm and
very good overhead and very mobile, is a KPD in waiting, and must be very close to favorite for
the rising star. But nice try.

Settle down muscles.

Further to the influence of Davis on the decision to drop Murphy, can someone provide another example in previous years where we have brought back a senior player, then dropped them after one week rather than carrying them for at least a couple of weeks?

Here it is. Nicks is in charge of selection when we make bad selections. Davis influences selection when its positive.

I’ve asked a question, do you have an example?

It's an extremely specific example that I would imagine wouldn't be too common.

But there is an actual example of it in 2022 under Nicks.

Crouch was dropped in late 2022. He was then brought back in Rd 17 for one game and then spent the rest of the season on the pine.

But just for the record. Nicks was in charge of selection when selecting Murphy in Rd 4. Murray Davis is in charge of selection in Rd 5 and dropped Murphy. Who is gonna be in charge in Round 6 I wonder?

Settle down muscles.
What does that mean? Even though I intruded onto your board I made respectful
and accurate corrections to the posters comment. I thought it may help your own
discussions if you have accurate information, so in this case I’m disappointed at
the response from you as I always considered Crows supporters as far more civil
than those who support Port.

Ease up Tiger.

It is an interesting contrast of new vs old

Current coaches wouldn't have considered it. He didn't even train during preseason with the forwards... impossible.

Blighty just sees a good player so you get him in the team somehow
Selectors need to get the better ball players closer to the play. Nankervis could be a creative high possession wingman with height & pace instead of Scholl which would allow Oscar Ryan to play off the back flank. Both players are attacking ball carrying players with exceptional kicking skills, strong in the contest & would improve the team.

He looks the real deal...Had Curtin not been on the board at our pick, there is every chance we would have drafted him and he is showing what he looks capable of now. As for the rising star, way too early in the season for that call but if he keeps playing like he has, who knows.

Strong tip we had Darcy Wilson 100% until Curtin landed

That year Crouch had played 11 games, it was round 17 and the season was shot. He did bring him back to replace McAdam who missed with injury, he even spent some time on the wing. It was also about the same time we were trying to find Crouch a new home and there were no takers.

I can’t recall who he was replaced by for the remainder of the season.

In this situation, it’s round 5. Murphy a favourite of Nicks after being rushed back in at the first chance, has been dropped after one game after playing a typical Murphy game, a game that we’ve seen many many times and would be nowhere near see him dropped after one game.

We’ve replaced him not with an experienced player but an inexperienced player, who should have actually been played last week.

Now ask yourself what’s changed at the club? Nicks went to Harvard where he’s learnt to identify mistakes and fix them straight away? Or could the coaching director have some influence? If the coaching director doesn’t have influence why bring him in?

As for Murphy’s initial call, do you think Davis, without having been at Adelaide would have said “no way, I’ve seen him play before you can’t pick him” or is it likely to be “ok Mafhew, if you think based on your knowledge or Murphy’s game, let’s go with your suggestion”

Now after seeing him play, do you not think Davis might have said “I think we’ve got better options”

Is any of that far fetched? If you think it is, I’ll refer you back to my original question and throw in another one, why has Nicks decided to replace Murphy with a junior after a typical Murphy game when he never has previously?

Milera round 1 2022. Played round 1 and dropped until round 12 or so.

On selecting Murphy or Deselecting Murphy?
Well he hasn’t seen him live before?
So probably believe nicks when he said he was a gun then had seen enough by 1/2 time and made the decision to boot him.

There's a third group, with a membership of one.
Nicks: "If he's fit, he'll play".
That comment, based on reputation only, shows how one-dimensional Nicks' thinking is. Nicks sees Milera's talent every time they train and remembers how good he was at his peak, pre-injuries.
There were former times when Milera made my jaw drop with his evasions, poise and brilliance, but injuries have blunted those.

Nankervis showed great promise last year, has not been cruelled by injury and was best-22, justifiably.
Nicks thought he was just keeping a position warm until Milera was healthy.
An astute Coach would have nursed Milera back to confidence and form in the SANFL, as you suggested.

Unless we bring in Pedlar - then it’s the Murray effect.
What do you think is happening here?
Nicks is improving his decision making or it’s input from others or another reason?
