When you think about it, it was a shame we were so wasteful by foot in the first half (I think at one stage they said we were going at about 39% efficiency by foot), otherwise we would've won that by 10 goals.

Full marks for tidying that up in the 2nd half though.

One of the best wins in recent years.
Can't say enough, just ****ing awesome effort from 5 goals down and looking putrid.
Some absolute first class games from some powerful players

personally never really felt we were playing putrid tonight, even when Adelaide skipped away a couple of times

Sensational win against a team with their tails up on their home deck.
Our midfield held sway , go figure 😁

Would love to see COS gps numbers - he was everywhere. Had a couple of almost moments forward , love the way this kid plays.
He may need a spell at some stage but he ain't getting dropped the way he's playing.

Krock talkback was good.
Callers noting how good it is to have 30+ disposal midfielders.

Not everyone needs to do it. But for your 18-24 touch types Bowes, Bruhn, Atkins, Clark etc. You need 1-2 of your Holmes and Smith types. Especially when both are explosive on the inside and outside, and can run all day.

Some are sent into existential crisis at the political state of the world. Some bemused at one or more genocides going on right now. I venture onto the Hawks opposition clubs thread and read actual praise for how we go about it.

Brain is broken. I seriously don't know what's real anymore:oops:

heard that a few times Gero.

sub-question for you - has he, over time, out-Max Rooked Max Rooke?

Yes, and I think he's been more consistent with his impact than we saw from Rooke across his career

Looking at these angles, I can that these are my Top 5 (lifetime memory) H&A wins:
1. 1991 v Collingwood, Victoria Park (Mansfield to full-forward)
2. THIS ONE.
3. 1989 v Collingwood, MCG ("what more can you say?")
4. 1999 v Kangaroos, MCG (48 points down in the 2nd quarter)
5. 1987 v Sydney, SCG (8 goal comeback to keep finals hopes alive)

No matter how either side ever feels about each other, we are the two sides in the competition who seem to always remain successful, and always have a grudging yet deep respect for each other.

That will never change. That's a true rivalry.

During the third, impacted the contest but sprinted forward leaving his man and forcing an out of bounds with a strong tackle when the ball was pushed backwards with crows handballs.

Loved that.

Courageous win
Dekonning was outstanding tonight. Thilthorpe hardly touched it in the first half while Sam was on him
Danger was a powerhouse again
Atkins plied his c trade all night
Smith works non stop
Holmes secon half brilliant
Zuthrie unbelievable Humphries too
A few players out of sorts but still wangled a magnificent win
Connor is steady for a boy
Jez finished magnificently
So pleased

I think regardless of how much we may hate each other, deep down there's also a sense of respect for how Hawks and Geelong go about it from the supporters of the other side.

Richmond supporters on the other hand...

That number 5 was crazy. Bews kicked one on the run from the boundary to take the lead. And wasn’t this the game Lindner took the kick ins and was torping it over the centre circle?

Wow! That was one of the best wins I've seen in a number years. No Kolo, Henry or Stewart and to dig in when we have invariably faltered . . . absolute season altering performance.

Atkins, Dangerfield, Holmes, Humphries, brilliant!

How good is O'Sullivan. I mean this kid is already looking the goods. If we did not select him in last years draft (or the one before then), I just don't think we could cover for the loss of Stewart and Henry at the moment. He looks a 50-75 gamer already.

Was really good. I think it’s his best spot, but he needs to go where injuries dictate

That’s why Scotty loves Jack, he literally calls him a “utility”

Like Blics, he goes where required.
Those guys are invaluable.

Jack can play defensive mid, do a tagging job, go down back and be a tough nosed rebounding defender or go up forward and kick a few snags.
Very very underrated.

I know he went top 10 in his draft back in the day, but people got massively down on him and labelled him a bust so now he flies under the radar.

We still got two more sleeps and weren't playing interstate, in the heat, against what has turned out to be a much better side than Melbourne. Adelaide a bit stiff on the fixture there.
Not sure how you cram 2 sleeps in 18 hours.. a night game most of the lads barely sleep anyway afterwards. Only disadvantage to crows was the humidity
