So after a morning out and about in the heat, I'm settling down with a cold one in the hotel lobby.

Grabbed a copy of today's (Adelaide) Advertiser. Kid you not, no mention of last night's game at all. Hilarious

The newspaper is sent to print before the sports writers have time to write it. Advertiser never has the previous nights game info

Baz sticking up for the captain

You can see all the little things now, and how Baz is becoming part of the club - off and on the field. Was worried a little bit at the start, but the address before the game last week, sticking up for Axe on field, the back and forth between him and Holmesy, the roar after his goal and everyone getting around him, and the final creme-de-la-creme being annoyed by how Danger's being treated and giving it right back to the supporter in question - he's a Geelong boy now!

Confirms what I've thought for a while now too, that Bevo is probably one of the main reasons why people with any sort of personality or differences, don't last long at the Dogs.

Plenty of positives from that second half. The Cats have some serious belief in their ability to stay in games and give themselves a chance.

Ollie Henry (as others have said) is a real worry. That's as bad a 4 weeks he's served up since being recruited. O'Connor was very shaky early and cost a couple of goals with turnovers, but got better as the game wore on. Miers is off a bit but I think he'll work into the season ok. Biggest watch on him is that I reckon he's shirking a few contests - that's a worry.

Highlight for me is watching Holmes and Smith run opposition sides of their feet. Smith's running ability and getting to multiple contests is elite. Even Holmes said post match that he has Smith covered for speed - but on gut running and distance efforts Smith is miles ahead of him.

He is a bit of a whipping boy on here, yes he could go a bit harder or do a few more things
But he kicked 1, had a hand in a couple more
9 touches and 2 tackles (prefer a couple more also)

but there are far worse performing forwards out there.

Yeah, I tend to agree. He's definitely not lighting it up at the moment. And he was fumbly as hell last night, plus a few really poor kicks. But he's working hard up and down the field, getting involved in plays, flying at everything he can and at least bringing the ball to ground. He's a super-talented kid with loads of potential. I hope he finds his mojo but personally hope they persist with him for a few more weeks yet before considering anything else.

I also reckon you need to look at the forward line as a whole ecosystem, and it's functioning pretty well at the moment.

Used to be better at crow park but since moving to AO seem to have become worse. Maybe less opposition supporters there to balance it out?

In an ideal world, Bailey would have just ignored it and maybe reported it to someone. But he's only human. I say this without knowing what the Crows supporter actually said, but it must have been bad, going by Bailey's and a few other players' reactions. There are some real pillocks out there.

In the 3rd Q as we were still behind I said the longer this went on the less credible Adelaide are as a team.
Not worried about them in the slightest after seeing that. They have no leaders who stand up when it gets tough and the game is to be won late, and can't beat us with our 3 best defenders out.
