He is better then what we have.... and by a long way

Big difference being his ability to get to contest to contest and actually get the ball around the ground. Id love to have a ruck who can get more then 5 touches a game for a change
He wouldn't get a touch in our team as the ball pings over his head all day, and players miss hitting him with kicks.

He also does zero to address our major problem, winning clearances with his tap work or his contested work.

I think he is shithouse, dont get me wrong but those in glass houses shouldnt be throwing stones is what im saying

He is leaps and bounds above what we have.

So Tigers won 3 of the next 4 flags at the end of 2016 because they had a list that was ready to win flags. How does that speak to Richmond’s development of those premiership players in the preceding years

I’ve never said that Choco isn’t a good development coach, I’m saying that his personality and work style are not conducive to a harmonious high performance environment.

Tigers did a football performance review and Choco was told he’s no wanted.

Didn’t even get a phone call from Hardwick.

Mcqualter and Choco were at Richmond together for years. Mini -who unlike Choco - actually survived the review in 2016 and was at Richmond during their successful era would have a great indication if Williams is someone who would be a net positive at our club.

Let’s see if McQualter decides to go down that path at the end of the year and bring Choco in.

My gut (and logical thinking brain) says probably not.

'Better than what we have' doesn't mean we go and blow top draft capital on him, because that's what he'd have cost.

I think he is what he is. A third midfielder (Behind Rowell and Noah Anderson) in a very strong midfield group who is capable of playing inside and out. Would definitely want a player of his type in our team.

A very good player who would walk into every teams midfield.

Im talking about Tim English?

For Gold Coast, not a single midfielder on that list I wouldnt take in a heartbeat :D

I’ve never met Choco and I haven’t read the report, but I know that Richmond squeezed every bit of talent out of that group and won three flags with a huge amount of role players.

Would be surprised if Choc wanted to move over here and I don’t know if the relationship between McQualter and Choco is good or bad but I do know that anyone that can develop a list like what happened at Richmond would be a welcome addition to our coaching setup.

Going over the current draft makeup and if we are being honest here, im excited by nothing. It looks another even draft that having a top pick in means very little. Difference between pick 1 and pick 5 is so miniscule it isnt worth the pain of it all.

Its yet another draft we enter with me wishing we were the Brisbane Lions at this point in time. Even though they are top of the table and we are bottom they are going to have a better draft then us, whether anyone can admit it or not

Not the case.

Touk Miller got drafted at #29. We took Duggan at #11. As you say, the general consensus was that Miller wasn't that good. Who knew?

But how do you disagree with the consensus and then rationalise that Miller is the real fellow? With all those other players who got picked in R2 and R3? It's most impossible to say, "right, I think a kid who everyone rates around 30 will be better than some top 5 picks". A lot of people are going to pick the wrong fellow.

The reason the draft order, and particularly the top 7 or 8, are in that order is because people have a consensus based on form and other factors.

When it comes to those 3 players who were in the firing line (Smith, Draper, Langford), I would have been okay with whoever the club chose. I don't know who will end up being the best, and how good they will be. I just know the percentages say that the kids who the general community think are top 5, have a better chance at being an elite player.

This little to do with opinion, and everything to do with percentages.

Your point is more than valid but people are more interested in MAFS than maths, and the urge to defend the club's decision making is more powerful than trying to understand nerdy shit like probabilities and what have you.

Any harm in enquiring about Rily O'Brien's from Adelaide who is a FA

29 but could absolutely hold down the ruck for a couple years
Not much of an upgrade from Flynn

Adelaide have been trying to replace him for a few years now. Just another list clogger

Whilst I don't mind the idea of it, for some reason the Crows fans hate him. Adelaide have been looking for a replacement for some time but keep extending him because they've been unable to find someone capable.

They’re going to be chasing SA boy Sam Draper I thought?

So he had a good game? Great.

Bailey Williams was rated 5th best ruck in the league a couple of seasons ago.

Try watching English play instead of quoting stats. Soft as butter and loses CBDs consistently. He's just lucky he has Liberatore and Richards to help out.
Bailey Williams was rated the worst ruck in the league last year… so what? Credits from two years ago

30 players classified as rucks this year, Bailey at 27.....

Matt Flynn was decently rated for his game surprisingly. Looking at Stats, ok contested possessions, high contested marks (1st per game), decent clearances (9th per game), a goal, and high pressure acts (3rd per game).

Might be time to bring him back, probably get more hit outs when not playing Witts.

Might as well.

Sure, he hasn't had an opponent at all in his last 2 WAFL games but he's getting amongst it in other ways at least.

I assume because Adelaide fans are wanting to progress to the next level as they have been slowly improving they want an upgrade in the ruck (fair enough) but we are in the low low starting point so an experienced hard working ruck all day guy is what we need.

Adelaide would be suited to a flashy Draper type now they have a gun midfield to hit to
