Injuries to key players over and over again I think cost us a possible chance at another premiership.
Had NicNat, JK, Yeo, Shuey, Gov, Shep, Lecca not continually missed games through injury in that period anything was possible. Always seemed 1,2,3+ were always missing at some stage.

I think we had a great run and will remember 2018 for the rest of my life. 6 consecutive finals appearances is a significant achievement and you can only do that if you’re a very good team. I think 2 top 4 finishes is probably too few to say we were a great team. Probsbly says we underachieved, and there’s probably a few different reasons as to why.

We are not going to be able trade our way out of this. Only players with a significant personal reason (i.e. sick relative) or players who can't get a game at most other clubs are going to put their hand up to come here at the moment.

We don't have much choice but to keep investing in youth, train harder, make sure we don't blow any more high draft picks and try and fix the culture at the club so the players are mentally wired to continually compete, try to improve and not give up because of the scoreboard or win/loss record.

I am not bagging McQualter at all. He has such a tough job and none of this is his fault. But maybe one thing he is not going to be really good at is selling hope to the younger players to get them in the right frame of mind. He isn't a big name and he also comes off as being quite introverted when part of what we really need is a really good hope salesman to lift spirits.

We all look at guys like Cameron, Xerri, Marshall and others as being among the comps best ruckmen and it is currently true but what most don't realise is they have taken years to reach this point. Marshall and Cameron are 29, Xerri is 27. We have a guy on our list who has career stoppage/ruck stats that are at least the equal, and in many cases better than those guys... and it's not Bailey Williams, it is Matt Flynn. Can't believe he has been written off after one performance. As dismal as it was for hitouts, he had most contested marks on the ground, second most CP behind Baker, equal most clearances, 5th most tackles and more possessions than half the team. Just needs a run at it to see if he's good enough, I already know he's better than BW.
Bit confused. The first half of your post is about how ruckman take quite a while to develop and the best ruckmen are generally on the older side but then write of BW who is only 24.

Understand why people want Flynn back in but I've got a lot of respect for BW who has had to shoulder far too much too young because we haven't managed our list effectively.

If Sharp doesn't come on, we HAVE
to throw everything at Rowell.

We need lots of things but an absolute inside bull is #1. He's also quick and likes to hit hard. Lead by example, lift others around him. Worth 2 mill a season for our club

Let's make it happen.
Rowell will not come to this football club

Sorry for backing up the truck but I skipped the whole weekends worth of posts because I figured they'd be a similar tone and feel as every other thread.

Did Warner sign on as advertised by the ITK Swans poster? Or has that been forgotten after our pounding?
stalking on their page there is increasing coverage of where TF is this signing!
can't believe the biggest signing of the year is being kept quiet?
seems not so much a done deal??

All these journos and fans never comment on the fact we lost a 1st rounder to concussion (DV), another great player to Concussion (Shep), an up and coming goal sneak went walkabout (Cameron), Willie smoked pot and we were hit with a ridiculous amount of injuries to important players and re filled with WAFL guys and unable to bring anyone back through the 2nds.

Sucks that out other1st rounders haven't taken that step (brander, chess) but it's all very annoying when you can see a clear path to the issue.

Yes our drafting hasn't been great and some on field efforts have been lazy but it's hard to start from basically a new team with busted warriors to help kids.

Arrrrgh!!

Not sure this has been posted already. At least Cal Twomey thinks we could ask for a priority pick. He also thinks we should be more ruthless and threaten to take players in the pre-season draft if clubs won't come to the table.

When you finish last and your first 2 picks are 1 and 30, a natural rebuild is out of the question. Love that a Melbourne reporter actually gets it.

Laura - the draft is compromised not complicated so just get off your fanny and fix the flicker.

Shep was a first-rounder as well (pick 7?).
