For late first rounders? I guess with all the academy players coming through they could use the points. That’s the only way it would work. From the sounds of it he’s likely to stay until FA.

GC will be hoping he stays. They have lots of early draft picks already so I think a later one and a future one would be a good deal for Rowell.

Fremantle can’t trade Three first round picks due to AFL trading restrictions.

Melbourne could play hardball but it will have a horrendous media campaign stopping a player wanting family with small children. Also, I am not sure you want to start a rebuild with players who don’t want to be there.

Let’s agree that Fremantle’s 2025 and 2026 first round picks isn’t enough for a young star. Can we organise something that equals another first round pick?

Dockers need NGA points for the next two drafts.

Maybe with the assistance of other clubs we could get something more.
He wouldn't be the only player in history held to his contract. Many players, i.e. Papley, Petty, etc. GWS held Wade Derksen to his contract even though he wanted to come to Melbourne.

GWS holding Derksen still makes me laugh. GWS obviously hate Melbourne for some reason.

lol. it doesn't even make sense. Derksen wasn't getting a game any time soon with their forward stocks.

It's weird. Melbourne is in such a horrible position that I'm caring less and less about whatever happens haha

And then you woke up.
And you need to wake up.

If you believe that two picks in the late teens or early twenties, either this year and/or next, will get this done then you are sadly mistaken.

Jackson or Treacy need to be involved for Melbourne to be interested.

Get creative Freo.

For either Jackson or Treacy?

You can keep him.

I'd love to see how many times a fanbase has said "You want [insert star player]? You'll have to give up [insert other star player] or he stays", and how many times that's actually come true.

Percentage wise, gotta be in the single digits.

This

Why would we had over one of the best key forwards in the game and our leading goal kicker for a small forward when he will come out of contract in two years and Melbourne will have less bargaining chips
We won't be rude about it We'll offer what we deem is a fair offer for Kozzie and more than likely get him. Switta might be involved somehow.

But we aren't going to sell the farm for him, we've got Murph and Duds now so as nice as it would be to have him in the team, he isn't exactly "required reading".

If he hadn't made it abundantly clear he wants out of the Dees, we wouldn't have been chasing him.

If Melbourne are unhappy with whatever we offer for him, they are more than welcome to walk away and they can enjoy their time with him, dragging his feet for the next 2 years, half arseing it and clogging up a list spot (not to mention taking a salary) when they are supposed to be attempting a rebuild.

Even the suggestion that a future Coleman medalist or a unicorn (that walked away from the Dees) should be involved in the trade is legitimately ludicrous and making me seriously LOL.

I love it when freo supporters talk tough

Damn straight

There's no way Melbourne want to keep a wantaway Kozzie on their list for * >insert number< * of seasons in a row now. Especially with the lack of leadership from the coach, no CEO for the foreseeable future and his cousin (Dudley) at Freo loving life. I say we have a bit more power in a contracted player trade than most usually do.

That being said, we always trade fair for players we want. 2x 1st rounders and Bob's your Uncle

Treacy?

Lol, always thought Danster was wild but you're a whole another level.

When a player wants to go it gets done
Particularly when he is stuck in the bin fire that is Melbourne at the moment

You severely underestimate how stubborn Melbourne are. It's very unlikely even if he chucks a Lachlan Galvin style meltdown (which I doubt pickett would do anyway). Melbourne will dig their heels in.

If Rowell was to leave (which he wont) they would be after a quality player not picks.

Nah trust me mate, we are acutely aware of how stubborn that club is.

But if the guy doesn't want to be there, and they can get some draft picks out of it, it would be in their best interests to take a reasonable offer for him.

Just being stubborn to save face is essentially shooting themselves in the foot (or head depending on your point of view).

Probably explains why they went so long in between drinks.
