Nothing in our NGA for f*cking years, and now it's pouring, lol.

Mellor and Rongdit this year and Steinfort who apparently looks alright and one to watch for a few years time.
If Steinfort, Rongdit, and Mellor are all decent academy kids then who cares if we give all our picks for the next 2 years to West Coast?

We can’t get Reid in this upcoming trade period. West coast won’t trade him under contract. Can guarantee it.

End of 2026 is a different story. And on his current trajectory, 3 x firsts will easily get it done when he’s out of contract. And teams will be able to trade future picks two years in advance by then. Expect change back even.

Out of contract it’s a different game. Patience and wait another 12 months.

Talk of trading Humphries is utter nonsense.

Why is Steinfort an nga … and is the brother nga too?

I have to say the the whole thing is a becoming a rort .. but we did not create it … we can only use it to our best advanatge.

I haven't found a clear answer at this stage, but it's highly likely Tom and maybe his younger brothers were born overseas

After his footy career finished, Carl was traveling the world where he met his now wife Tuuli who's from Finland - that doesn't count for NGA eligibility

One thing they did do though was open an orphanage in Nepal in 2008 called, Onni Children's House - could be that Tom and maybe his younger brothers were born in Nepal during their time there which would make him eligible under the NGA criteria of:

  1. Was born in an African, Asian or non-English speaking country

Id say we have to prepare ourselves for some pain if we are to make it happen… and as it stands , I'm not convinced H,N or E would want to go back. Cant see any obvious way we get it done in 25. 3rd club maybe?
Wouldn’t just straight up 3x1sts get it done plus maybe swap of some seconds for their thirds

I imagine bulldogs are wanting to get rid of JUH… the fact bevo said the ball is now in the AFL’s court to me was a very clear message they want to try and sack him.

There is something seriously rotten about bevo and that club…. The amount of players who want out is alarming

As it stands TobyC was drafted in 2021 , and is now in his 4th year and has played 6 games. So what is his future? How will his body stand up?

Gawn was drafted in 2009 , played 3 games in his first 3 years but by his 4th year he became pretty much a regular player.. and has played 229 games.

Daw Simpson was drafted in 2007 , played 3 games in his first 4 years … then went on to play only 11 in his first 6 years and eventually had a 48 game career.

So my point is not as much about comparing talent …but slow starts. Gawn had injuries , had a slow start but by the 4th year basically came good and very reliable. DawS body unfortunately was never really reliable. ..in 12 years of footy his best ever season was 13 games before he again became injured in 2014.

As far as talent goes… Toby has a lot of potential. How good he becomes will depend on him becoming a reliable robust player to max that potential. Id say Darcy over at Fremantle is someone who has been affected by injury but he has at least played 111 games , probably enough to show he had talent but he will fall short of what he might have been thru injury and wear an tear.

Turbocat; if the Cats hierarchy decided not to renew Toby Conway's contract recently then there would be reason for concern 'to be sure' but that fact is that they did and for an extended period and I know for certain that the powers to be have the same opinion of Toby as I, and to me that is all that really matters. Toby is far more likely for his body to hold up than not over issuing years and when it does, he'll be one of the best ruckman in the game of which most here at Geelong Big Footy fail to see. Toby is our best ruckman since Brad Ottens and Steven King and the Club will be giving him their full support in obtaining that impressive objective. However, what we need in the meantime is for all and sundry to be a little patient, coz in a AFL fully mature ruckman terms, he's only a baby. Just wait and see Turbocat: as you'll be pleasantly surprised..... and GO CATS !!!

Not if those 3 firsts are all in the late teens. Depends how early they are.

While I'm no big fan of bevo I can't see how jamarra hanging out with bikies is his problem.

I totally get questions around cultural concerns at the Bulldogs when you read/hear stories about past happenings involving players like Boyd or Stringer, or why do guys like Dunkley, Daniel, Macrae who've seemingly got their heads screwed on and could provide that grounding culture at their club but are then looking for new homes

And obviously we've benefited from a couple of additions who maybe weren't always angels during their Bulldogs days in Dahlhaus & Smith but transitioned into life at the KP

We know it's not limited to those mentioned above, though a difference between hearing the stories of the antics that Bulldogs players have got up to compared with not hearing the same from other clubs doesn't necessarily mean it's not happening at other clubs, just that other clubs may be better at not allowing too many of those stories to hit the headlines

But when we now look at the current situation with JUH, I'm not sure that's necessarily on the Bulldogs and/or Beveridge; instead it's more about the individual and the choices they're currently making. Jamarra may not be the one posting to socials the videos of what he's been getting up to with his mates, but he is the one making the decision to go out and be seen with espresso martinis, be acting like an idiot while someone films etc

We need to remember that there's times when the decisions an individual makes or antics they get up to are purely reflective of the individual, and not reflective of the club environment

Mellor and Rongdit this year and Steinfort who apparently looks alright and one to watch for a few years time.
Brizzy, Swans and GC pull 36 Rd1 picks from Academys et al and the odd FS and they cry about us getting a few NGA options 10 years after NGA starts..... and we miss JUH bc of rezoning..

They are all really mad over Hawkins and GAJ arent they... Well prog Scarlo and Sel too but GAJ or Scarlo werent touted as RD1 picks - they became legends but not from their draft time.

And its not like Mellor, Rongit, Clohesy have been Rd1 prsopects either....

Fair shake please. Not to mention its 2025 and 06 was basically 20 years ago and we've gotten pretty much nothing from FS since then.

Pretty funny that people still talk about us getting father sons.

How many F/S or NGA players have we had bid on since it started in 2008? I'm pretty sure the number is 0 with every player we've taken (Bews, Simpson, Clohesy, etc) either being taken with our last pick in the main draft or in the rookie draft.

Every year there are a few top 20 picks that are either F/S or academy and we've had none in almost 20 years.
we blew the shit outta FS in 06.... and its been crickets since basically with Bewsy prob being the most successful - but even Bewsy was a late rd pick and he was massively unfit and took 2 years to get to AFL fitness levels.

Osca Riccardi was a FS rookie and he didnt go anywhere - but glad to see him back in the VFL side after the illness.

We are like St Kilda now hoping to get some value from it... stuff from 20 years ago is over.

agreed - Bevo seems like a bit of a tosser actually IMO but JUH smashing desserts with his hands and drinking espresso martinis while not playing bc he's not in a fit mental state is poor optics.

Not saying JUH cant have and been dealing with the issues he faces - but hes under contract to play and the not sure that behaviour in public sends the best message that im working on it and trying to resolve what I need to do.

Man these rules are weird.

It does read that they want him delisted in contract.

Not a ringing endorsement of JUH and Beveridge seems to be saying fairly reasonable things about it in public at least. I think you have to make him play vfl for a year

When asked this week when JUH would play, didn't Bevo answer something along the lines of "That's up to the AFL". If that is correct then doesn't that point to failed drug tests and a situation similar to Buddy's "calf injury" years ago?

Gawn Year 4 13 games, year 5 9 games, year 6 13 games and finally in year 7 he played 22 games. Oh and year 8 he was back playing 13 games. Not sure missing half a season until year 7 meant he was a regular player.

If both stay fit, Edwards will be a better ruckman than Conway.

I have presented my pov. And why I refereced Gawn .. who took 3 to 4 years to become ready … or Daw Simpson ..whos body never really stood up to the rigours and demands of afl.

Talent is not what I am questioning atm its if his body is to what is required at afl level. Some people just are not It has nothing to do with talent. One of the most talented players we ever had , Paul Lynch played only 62 games accross his era as his body just could not hold up to the demands.

At 4 years in …he needs to get on the ground and start playing …or others will go past him. Its the same for every player on an afl list. Daw Simpson was given a heap of years so if a club rates a player like him they will be given some time but everyone has a finite amount of time. Big guys get more leniency that those that are smaller but he the pressure eventually comes. Other players are drafted or recruited and there is a constant comp for that role in the side.

How many games has Toby played VFL and AFL combined? I cant say I have seen him play week in week out in the VFL. How does it compare to other rucks drafted. Id say he still has time , as shown by the contract renewal but he needs to get on the ground and start playing and reminding all what he has to offer or guys like Edwards (who has his own issues) will push ahead …or maybe Geelong just goes and recruits someone else.

IMO…. Not while contracted. Three picks in the 20’s … its not a good sell. It would take a player that they could add straight away.. or a pick early enough to be the first WA kid etc…. While contracted WCoast have choices . At the end of 2026 ..they have no choice. He is going so they are more likely to take that type of trade

I liked Edwards in the champs…and he resonates the type of player CS likes. Mobile. Athletic. IF both players could stay fit and reach their potential I agree that Edwards may be the player they go to. Id just like for them all to get fit and stay fit so we can make observation about what they offer on the ground.

Yeah I was just thinking that …gee the melts would be something to witness ..and it wouldn’t stop for just a few weeks it’ll go on for a long time imo

The public morons still whinge about our F/S from 20 years ago ..still they have crickets about Bulldogs or NGA with the lions ect
